They are following the Jp's release of patches. What ever it was that the JP got for their second patch is what we'll get for our next patch

They always start the update a 2 AM EST (which is basically friday morning for east coast).

Tonight is maintenance only, except if they do a sneak-attack patch, which I woulnd't mind, but no news anywhere about the upcomming patch, so, be patient, there's only 2 weeks left before the date Clumsy promised us.

Yeah she said the 15th we would ahve one by then. But im hoping they dont decide to leech the US and EU players out of money and update us at the end every month. If its tonight then we wont have to worry about monthly updates.

I wouldn't mind monthlies, if they rolled the four weeks worth of JP updates into one bundle. But somehow, I don't see that happening.

I don't mind the extra week. More time for me to man out my Hunter/Force Lvs to 10, and my Hunter PAs.

I see it as time to save up the money for cards and new techs, and whatnot. Also time to level my ranger to a higher point.

I am glad they are not updating us as often as the JP updates come. Man, the Japanese have not had it good with PSU. A complete DB wipe, lots of bugfix patches. We already get those to start, so we need fewer patches.

Still, I want Gi spells darnit!

If the update is not this Friday at 3 am then I'm sure you'll see even the most casual gamers begin to get frustrated at lack of content. Not to mention how many regular players will be in an uproar if they decide to give us the patch two weeks from now (Dec 15th 3 am.)

Could you, uh, not make statements about how you are sure I feel? I am by every estimation a casual gamer. I am not tired of PSU, nor do I feel squeezed by the content. Heck, I still can't find a group with the chutzpah to take on Seabed and not quit halfway through. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Speaking as a casual, I want to say that, while I'm not even close to hitting caps, I would like to have information about what's going up a few days ahead of time. Also, seeing the JP release schedule, if SoA(or SoJ, I don't know who is responsible for getting the content ready for the US/EU servers) falls behind on a regular basis, then we could see the situation being that we have extremely little content, and will continue to have that, for the entirety of the game's life. That's what worries me. While I probably won't go into an uproar, I would start to make some noises.

Personally i think its a terrible idea to just let the player base sit around and amass wealth like we are, because really what else is there to do but sit around and make money? It IS going to cause inflation once there is stuff for us to buy again. Not to mention i've been noticing my player card list getting smaller by the day...

The only reason a warlock loses to a paladin now is if he had his felguard out and the pally has the intelligence to raise BoF. Warlocks are the new 3-minute mages, but now with stunlock.

I'm pretty much done with this game if it doesnt get an update this week. All I ever see is JP updates. For whatever reason, there is a severe lack of communication from Sega on when the US updates will be. We are left to make educated guesses based on the JP update time line. So far, that guess work is looking to be false tonight. If Sega expects us to wait twice as long (or longer) for the same JP updates, then they should just stop expecting my money. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

How much store credit does EB give for the 360 version these days?

I'm not supportion the lack of updates or anything, however, consider that it was the NA servers for a month, then the NA/EU servers as of last week. Sega is giving time for the EU players to catch up a bit before an update, while pissing US off. So, don't bash Sega for giving the EU's some time, but bash them for not adding them sooner and getting us our updates on time.

That isn't really the reason. Clumsy has said on the main site before that the updates had no correlation to the EU release. Either way, I'm waiting till the end of Dec-mid Jan to decide if I want to try importing the JP version of PSU if things continue at this rate.

I just love this whole lack of communication issue whine. Lets see how many times does it have to be said, they said by the 15, NOT according to the great JP bible.

If people are too stupid that they can't grasp this simple concept that it might not be this week, and of they're gonna keep acting like whiny little children because they didn't get it this week. My god one whole month for a whole new planet and expert classes, the sheer HORROR! HOW CAN WE LIVE!?!? There's no helping some I guess. Wish if they are gonna leave they'd just shut up and do it already. The incessant whinefests and certain posters trolling every thread to bitch and moan are really getting old.

Yeah, but we don't have enough players as it is. I'm bored and decided to take a break, and will definitely be back for expert classes, but the number of people who aren't reasonable is heavily outweighing those who are. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

I believe Sega's made a deal with 1up. Probably some sort of sponsorship thing, which leads me to think we'll be having events like BB's Yahoo cup, courtesy of 1up, in exchange for a headsup on new info.

See what I did there? Clever, I know.

Yes yes it was the volumes of screams that got the updates posted, and probably not SEGA's plan they had from the very beginning. I'm sure that wasn't it at all, power to the people, respect the flame, yadda yadda yadda.

I believe Sega's made a deal with 1up. Probably some sort of sponsorship thing, which leads me to think we'll be having events like BB's Yahoo cup, courtesy of 1up, in exchange for a headsup on new info.

See what I did there? Clever, I know.

Yeah, but unless you actually visit 1up.com (and I sure as heck don't), you're not going to see the news, so anyone who thinks logically (or illogically...) will check the PSU website, see nothing as usual and call Sega losers and then we lose more people...

And if we're getting weekly updates anyway, then no one will ever need to check 1up.com again.

Phantasy Star Online December Content Update
Massive content update for PSU. Details inside.
by James Mielke, 11/30/2006

Well, take heart, because we've got the details on Sega's upcoming December plans for their online RPG, the first of which will take place on Dec. 8th. Sega informs us that they will update PSU on a weekly basis starting with the December 8th content release. Level Cap: The current level cap has been increased to level 60, and Photon abilities and TECHNICs can now be raised to level 30 depending on your character class.

Partner Machinery: Partner Machinery 'Device Zero' will be available, enabling you to return your Partner Machinery to its original state and start from the beginning if you don't like how it's developed.

Missions: Over 10 S Rank quests will be opened up on all planets, including a brand new dragon.

If things look rough, don't waste your SUV, use it as soon as possible. Since you should be at the front of the room, you should have a good shot at the audience.

Just remember, the teacher has the leader and Shifta buff to back him up, so you'll probably need to use a good amount of your PP to take him down. If you forget to recharge before class you can always go to the cafeteria, but remember that once you enter the classroom you can't leave until you finish or until you die, so I would take down a memo to be safe.

If you're allowed electronics I would strongly recommend taking your PM with you for backup, and if you have a personal tutor they should be of some use even though their street smarts is much lower than yours.

Don't forget to grind your 2# pencils, but don't overdo it or else the pencil will become unuseable, and you'll have to buy one from someone else for an outrageous price way higher than the student bookstore.

Also, what's your major? You might want to go to the Guidence Counselor Station on the 5th floor and have that changed if you know you can't win, it can save you a lot of headache even though it costs you a lot of your parents' money.

Oh, I mentioned this before, but make absolutely sure you take out all the students, because once the teacher is down the classroom switches from your current loot system to finder's loot (it's a well-known bug right now, but the principal and school board are pretending like they know nothing about it) and so anything in the teacher's desks and boxes is completely up for grabs.

Good luck to you! Study hard and try to get to the highest level you can beforehand, it will help immensely!!

It does because S rank are few and far between. So basicly your giving yourself a bard type character with no limitations. My only question is are the rumors true about class special traits? someone said like prot had a 30% more crit rate or something like that.

CHANCE to crit.

Example: Protransers have a 150% crit rate, compared to every other job at 100% (barring Fortegunners/Guntechers). They will LAND crtical strikes 50% more often than everyone else, or 3 crits to everyone else's 2.

They will still do the same bonus damage, but they will happen more often.

when wow has over 5 million people playing. a few thousand they can live without. PSU however has a much MUCH smaller fanbase. We'e already lost alot of people. It's getting to the point that univese2 won't get past 2 stars.

Wow is getting a massive expanasion for it, psu is getting small chunks of content unlocked every week(if sega sticks to the plan).

Plus ps3 and wii are out. If wow doesn't do it alone, it's gota plenty of help. Granted I'll keep playing cause i enjoy psu, but it sucks to see friends and a large chunk of the community leave due to how the game is being handled. That's reality unfourtantly.

traps. If they put in some synthable traps you can have some serious fun in the field. If you have to buy or wait for drops for the best ones... the class is gonna suck.

I believe it was brought up before that Protranser traps do a bit more damage than Ranger-set traps.

While it is a little disappointing, they've annoucned it for the 8th, so I'm happy knowing it's coming, if a week behind what we hoped for. More time to see if I can get materials for high level crafting secured, and work on hitting the cap. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

the 8th is good cause that is literaly right before alot of peoples subscription expires. Also now thatthey are claiming weekly updates for us things are looking up.I know alot of people are gonna come back and play later next year for sure just right now they ae breaking which is fine for some.My friend zero soldier gave me his account pass and name becouse he has bootcamp for the next 3 months. He wants me to just get him some meseta and maybe a few new weps to keep him up a bit and primarily run his thrift shop.So he had no choice realy but he said he is glad cause its perfect timeing for his favorite game.(this guy racked up more hours in gc pso ,comepletely offline, than i coulda imagined).

Also to note if they are includeing weekly updates i think that hints at sumtin.Something we have all speculated on.

I think we should be satisfied when Sega gets in a Time machine and goes back to the day the game was released and gives us This update before most of the Universes emptied.

The update news saved me from the doldrums of levelling Zonde a bit and now I am actually motivated to work on other characters again lol.

Note this comment by Clumsy on the official site though:

Keep in mind, 1up.com is reporting on the entire month of December, not just the December 8 update. Many S-Rank quests will be available, but don't expect 10 in the first delivery.

And yes, advanced classes will be available in the 12/8 update, not later in the month.

Ok, so not as big on December 8th as it first sounded, but still good. Wonder if this means that entire announcement was the sum total of all things we'll see in December or what? They should clarify, since if it is the sum total of all December's updates listed en masse, then no Christmas decorations? No idea what it means exactly. Three cheers for clarity lol. Just thought I'd keep anyone informed who may have thought we were getting all 10 S-ranks Thursday.

You see thanks to our constant "whining" and mass cancellations sega has listened and given you information 1 week before hand and this time, they promise weekly updates.... or at least i would like to think so. Like it was said before.. its too little too late. A majority of people will never return due to ST's lack of enthuisasm for their own game.

AeraLure
Dec 1, 2006, 11:13 AM
Actually I am not sure SEGA listened or adjusted anything. December 8th for Expert classes matches the same time the Expert class update came to Japan relative to the official launch date (ignoring Japan's rollback issues and free month). Japan then got more or less weekly updates after that (setting aside the fact that Expert classes came 1 week after Moatoob in Japan). SEGA basically seems to have held the course for what its worth.

I also tend not to think anyone was whining. It was a pretty harsh stretch there given content that was available at launch. I do think that was miscalculated on SEGA's part and perhaps should have been adjusted (probably to match Japan's update schedule, taking out the 30 free days, ie, we would have gotten an update of some sort approximately once a week since 10/24). Old news, old history, and really no point for a rehash though. Been there done that. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

I do think a number will return. Who knows how many. I'm actually motivated to play on my secondary characters again. Amazing what a little news actually does and I hope if anything SEGA learns from previous slip-ups so far.

AngelLight
Dec 1, 2006, 11:18 AM
well interestingly, their latest Sonic offering got panned harsh.

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/sonicthehedgehog

With this latest problem for ST and the current problems with other games including here, perhaps they should consider adding in some new blood to the ST development group and to SEGA in general.

I think a decent amount of faith has been lost on the part of the consumers. Still, there's always hope that something can be salvaged from our time here on PSU and more new people will be added to the community (even if out of curisoity)....besides that, for all the problems, this is still a fun game after all.

Updates help with the community problem indirectly and keeping the current community in tune with the schedule is the recipe for success (and something they should of did all along).

AeraLure
Dec 1, 2006, 11:31 AM
Yeah. Its been a tough ride the last number of years on the SEGA ship. They seem to have some sort of conflict now on the corporate side of things since the bankruptcy, ie budgets coming down hard on development, somewhat poor marketing and followthrough. They need a guru of a sort to act as liason there between the gaming and monetary interests to get some of that spark back it seems.

Nonetheless I agree: PSU is still fun.

iono about yall, but that 7x damage from traps thing is making take a second look at protransers. You could kill a S rank boss in no time. I havent used traps but I seen someone blowing something up one time for like 400 dmg, with just 1 trap.

Can anyone who uses traps explain how they work? How many can u drop at one time? I would love to buy like 30 of them, and just drop a shit load around a boss and just watch him blow up.

Stixx

As far as I know, the Damage Trap is the only trap you can lay more than one of at a time. Also, you have to manually detonate the G level traps.
