Are you just asking for a bad experience? We currently have it on PS2, and it would be fun to be able to play with my kid at the same time.

My computer is vastly below the minimum requirements and runs it great, with no lag at all on low settings.

It doesn't run too well with minimum specs. However, it's more on memory and your videocard than anything CPU driven. With 1 Gig Ram, you can get some decent play on the 800x600 screen. However, to get the performance you really want (in groups), you want something that's specced after the FX series of videocards.

When you say low settings, do you mean the graphics? If so, how would you rate them, like DC version or lower?

You know what I just thought of? Wouldn't the very first version of PSO (without the hax) be an awesome DS game?

I play on a laptop which has a celeron processor, 512 MB or RAM, and integrated graphics http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Low =lowest resolution available, and lowest graphics settings which is...."low" http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Turning off post effects alone can allow my comp (which is minimum specs) to run on medium without a single hitch. No lag at all, 0 slowdown, smooth as it is in the best of clips. All you loose is the weapon glow (all weapons are white, but still leave a colored trail based on their element).

its a matter of your GPU and CPU - and of course how much other things clog the RAM up.
more ram is always nice, but if the GPU takes work off the CPU for rendering issues, it will run smoother.
really, just about any GPU for 40 bucks will greatly speed this game up - on lowest settings you wont really see a difference if you dont know the highest settings yet http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif maybe you'll miss the weapon's glow tho...

the specs for this game is really low, i have the crappiest low end laptop (B120) by dell and it still "plays" the game. The reason i say "play" is because i get slowdown on maps with heavy forestry like parum or neudaiz. Works fine in relics. The slowdown isnt too bad if you can deal with it. I just look at the ground when im running, it stops it from slowing down. I cant help you during fights tho, If your a hutner the slowdown isnt bad, but if your a fo and people are depending on your quick resta, your in for a little trouble.

Hmm scratch that lol, just checked my PSU options because i wasnt sure. Turns out the setting is on Medium and post effects are still on. I wonder if i could bump up the screen res if i turned it off.....*hmm goes and tests it*

Final conclusion:

At 800x600 It runs on medium settings with post effects off and compressed textures

At the res lower than 800x600(forget what it is) it runs on medium settings with post effects on and compressed textures.

Both of these are with no lag in a full party of 6 in relics. I tried the highest res on lower settings but it was just too laggy even with post effects off. >.>

EDIT: Also i should note that i have firefox, AIM and Photoshop all running aswell(was lazy and didnt feel like closing anything http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif)

EDIT: "At 800x600 It runs on medium settings with post effects off and compressed textures" has some slow down when two people from the party left and two diga and foie spammign forces entered http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif So i guess the lowest Res is the onlyone slowdown free, meh. good enough for me lol.

Yeah it looks like ass btu it probably looks no worse than PS2, I have a good computer, a shit computer and a PS2, and from what I can tell the shit computer runs it a bit better than PS2 as in no major slowdown, but the graphics are likely the same yet they LOOK worse because you don't get the natural anti aliasing of a TV screen. So it looks horribly blocky.

That must be the newer laptop generation after geoforce was put into every laptop as intergrated graphic card.

There is no way the old regular intergrated graphic card can do all those.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 about a year or two old.

What do compressed textures do?

Im not sure but i was told that it prevents slowdown during play but causes loading screens to take longer. When i changed it i did notice the loading taking long so i think thats true.
