Seems there is a growing number of people who want to make movies in game. I think the best and easiest way to do this is with a program called FRAPs, It can take screenshots too and put them in better formats than bmp like "print screen" does.
It takes a good amount of system resources tho to use the movie function, best ways to reduce the resource pull is put it on "half size" and "60 fps"
Some do's and don'ts
Dont: Bind the movie start/stop key to "6" like I did, default its one of the F keys but that pulled up a chat menu so in a quick bind I put it to a key I knew didnt do anything in game and not a letter since i use letters to type... well I think my most used smily is "^^" and I now have like 500 1 second movies from every time I used that smily http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif
Dont: Leave the movie maker on acidently because the movies are huge in size untill you re encode them a 10 minute movie could eat your entire hard drive.
Do: Find another program to re-encode the movies after you record them, a good codec can reduce the size by 9/10ths and it will still look just as good. For now I use Vdub but there are better programs out there probably.
Dont: Leave recording set to "what you hear" and have your microphone on http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif your voice will record too
Some good things to use this for?
Well say your one of the people with a 100PM and doing crafting service for somobody, you can record a video of you saying "Im taking out "X persons" Armor/Weapon now" then take it out and they can see f it failed/passed and it leaves no room for sombody to think you tell them it failed and it really passed.
I had sombody craft me a armor and they said it failed, they gave me a link to a video and I thought it was cool, however make sure to say the name of the person because it would still be possible to use a movie of a failing item for more than one person if it wasnt unique with there name.
On that note my 100 tech PM will be done on Friday and I will offer service and include a video upon request of your synth results.
I may expand this with more detail later on like wich codec is best to encode with or the best site to upload your movies too as I play around more with it.
As of now I use google video and it will encode the movie for you automaticly but its a poor quality, so think i may try a diffrent place.
