Judging off usefulness I'd say Wartecher, but I've seen more of those than I've seen Guntechers, so who knows.

theres an article on there usefulness in the gameplay section they're to start with but like with any child with love and a push in the right direction they become great

Yes they are but until my PT hits 6 (the level its stats become 100% and able to equip noncrap weapons) I am going to make sarcastic smart ass remarks about the usefulness of what PT gains in comparison to what it loses starting with 50% stats.

umm 80% ATP (at PT10) is not "higher" than other melee classes. Only Fortetetetetechers and FOs have less ATP. Everything else has more.

To elaborate better, it's true that Protransers have a 150% CHR compared to the baseline 100% CHR. However, that normal level of CHR translates into getting a critical attack 10% of the time. 150% of 10% is 15%, or an extra one chance in twenty that your attack will be critical. The effect isn't likely to be visible.

There are other threads where we can discuss the merits of Protransers and critical hit rates. Back on topic, I'd imagine Guntecher would be the least favored expert type outside of PT, to be honest. Prior to the addition of expert types, compared to Hunters, you don't see as many Rangers and Forces, much less people who've leveled up Ranger and Force together.

I barely see wartecher. I have seen quite a few guntecher already.

**Correction**
I have seen a few "wartechers" when they were trying to lv their hunter or force class. But, after the update I don't see them anymore.

I'm a guntecher, commonly known in parties I join as "Another force."

Garnet_Moon
Dec 12, 2006, 03:21 AM
Guntechers aren't the forces they are supposed to be. I did a De Ragan A run today for kicks, and I died twice. I laughed first, then I cried. 1100 HP drops so fast when LEader Vahra start beating on you.

There was 2 Guntechers in the PT and I still died twice... lol.

They are fine backups, but my god their Resta range is atrocious.

And yes, i'm a n00b for dying at level 55 on a De Ragan A mission. But hey, I had a migraine the size of texas, i'm stilll sick, and I was tired. Sue~ me~~~.

SolRiver
Dec 12, 2006, 03:27 AM
Of all the people who got resta, only the select few of the 20% of the entire registered PSU account, would use resta before your HP hit yellow. (when HP hit yellow zone, that is when everyone must start to heal themselves; what resta? no one going to wait for it) These "forces" need to have party HP bar size increase by 50x in order for them to see it.

What is with all the players who seriously lack observation anyway? But actually, I am glad PSU is an easy game. After getting back from Guildwars, I realize how terrible it would be, if a game is based completely on skills alone.

Garnet_Moon
Dec 12, 2006, 03:33 AM
I've got a real nasty habit of letting my HP loom in the 50% range. I picked that up from my Beast Hunter.

Not the brightest idea as a Newman F on the frontlines to say the least. I hope I break the habit before we get harder missions... haha.

But as for the topic, i'd say Wartecher. Everyone is either a Forte or a Figunner. >_>

I think guntechers will be very handy when support magic is unlocked. That + status effects + ability to heal in a pinch makes them a real swiss army knife and a backup force if you are lacking in that department.

the least popular class it seems is any class that is no figunner.

i was one the only person in a group that wasn't one..it was very strange watching five people all use double sabers to attack one mob by themselves

Guntecher and Wartecher are pritty useless without support techs, when we get shifta/deband at the least, their popularity should pick up..

I'm suprised there are not more Fortefighters..... then again... ST DID give the double saber to only Figunners ¬.¬

i am a wartecher and i personally like it. got the option of playin alittle hunter action without worrying about dying. i really dont give a crap about s rank wep usage rite now anyways. im mainly a wartecher to lvl up the photon arts cause by the time i got all my hu's up to 18 it was lvl 10 so i changed to fo and got it to 9 then switched over to lvl both pa's. makes sence to me at least. never really liked ranger even in pso.

l_Will_l
Dec 12, 2006, 09:43 AM
lol but now that i think about it. im contemplating on going to ranger after i get all of these current pa's up to 20. just to do it and get it out of the way. it really only took me like 3 days to get my fo to 9 lol

Shifta Deband Jellen Ryuker, all those support techs will raise interest in the -techers. (Almost said Tekker.. I was about to go back to PSO there)

Still, for the time being, I do quite well with the guntecher with the offensive replacement. Currently, I use stuff like Foie and Barta simply to drop their HP down a bit, for the guns. It's like a makeshift defense drop idea, until the real stuff comes along. The bad, it costs more PP since the status ailments are cast-once, long duration. But you can still knock away some HP to simulate having them die in less hits.

On the other hand, the advantage is that they get the elemental ailments, from time to time. Burning, frozen, etc.

Yes, Diga hits harder, but Guntechers max at level 10 techs, so that means you're stuck with the aweful small hitbox of a slow travelling projectile most monsters love to dodge around.

Me me! lol. I'm a Fortegunner and loving it. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

I'm sometimes also a Guntecher. While I agree with Shim in so far as Guntechers not being useless (even as a Cast Guntecher), right now I am finding the Cast Fortegunner combo to sort of outperfrom the Guntecher for what I am doing at the moment. They are each situational. Guntecher is great. In any event, I'm enjoying these two roles so much my Force has yet to see any play since the update. Odd, but hey, fun is the bottom line.

Guntechers that use dual handguns are gimpy... theres a weapon type thats a hell of a lot more dmg, can do killer status effects, has higher acc out there... but ill let you figure it out.

I agree. I'm not giving up the role anytime soon. It's HOW you use the classes, which adds up to the fun. If you aren't having fun, then it's not the class for you. If you're having fun, particularly because of what you do in it; then it's definitely your class.

It amuses me to no end because all through PSO since the DC I really disliked both Rangers AND Casts and never used either, yet its been such a pleasant surprise to find I love specifically that combination here in PSU. Dont get me wrong, I really like my Force too.

Anyway, sort of more on topic I think I have seen the fewest Guntechers in my wanderings, outside of course of Protraners. Not terribly many Fortegunners either.

Funny enough. I didn't play ANYTHING but force for maybe a good 600+ hours of play through Dreamcast PSO v1 and v2.

It wasn't until the Xbox version that I even picked up a Ranger. The Ranger I picked was the Human Ranger model, so it was technically the Ranger with the highest Technique. Kind of funny that I can sort of see Guntecher falling in those kind of lines. Though I see these new classes outdoing the PSO similar versions.

I forged this character to be a twin-gun romancer, so I'm having them, no matter what. I'm really glad it allows S ranks of them, for me.

It's effective. That's what works for me. With strategy I can do great things with them. They may not be the statistical number 1 weapon, but this isn't FFXI. The old age of everybody finding just 1 single way of playing any class and thinking that's the only effective way of playing them is one of the biggest reasons I've come here, from FFXI.

We need "relic clothes" to trully distinguish the classes , they would be 12* , only equipable by whatever expert type you are and have some odd-ball drop rate , in a zone where no one really goes to. ;p

But on topic i've mostly seen the forte-types , and lots of CAST figunner.

Class emblems are actually a great idea! And really we just need more customization period. Clothes are great but.... zZzZzZ. The actual armor you are wearing adding special symbols to your clothing along with units actually apearing would help alot. Everyone just looks kind of boring.

I've looked through many parties(and I do mean Many) before I start a mission and Fortefighters and fighgunners are the most used(which is made up of 90% beasts and casts). Guntecher is more popular than Wartecher by far. Fortetechers are pretty common, but that's because it makes up 90% of the newman ex class population, I can't blame them for doing so. Forteguners aren't that rare, except if it's not a cast(Nova will change this). Protransers are the rarest.
