This is just speculation but...

Could SEGA be giving us weekly updates so we are caught up to Japan by the time their Xbox360 version comes out?

No, Japan has been getting weekly or bi-weekly updates for a while now.
It's just starting for us.

I have a feeling sega's hand got forced. They were losing subscribers. I re-activated my subscription once I learned we were getting weekly updates instead of having to wait 3 weeks or more per update.

Hmm, will Japanese players have any incentive to get the 360 copy then? I mean it's going to be months behind on updates...

They already have. There are quite a few of them on the 360. Of the ones who do not have accounts on both servers, I'd chalk it up to one of 3 things:

1) Diversity. It is always nice to be exposed to different cultures. Even if in a limited way.
2) Lack of a good PC. Self explanatory.
3) Finding as many games as possible to fill out that 360 library after buying it solely for Blue Dragon.

The JP 360 servers are linked with NA/EU 360 servers. The Xbox 360 version of PSU is region free.

That was my point, since its the same servers they will be behind as opposed to the JP PS2/PC servers.

I doubt that SEGA will care if we get caught up to the JP servers, also ,like everyone else has said JP360 has been out for awhile.

Really? I thought the JP 360 version came out some time in January...

While we do get weekly updates, it seems like the updates aren't going to be much per week. This week all we got was a handful of S-rank missions, which a lot of people can't even enjoy yet. Next week's update seems like it'll follow the same path.

However, frequent updates do keep things interesting and makes sure that things don't completely stagnate, so there's a good and bad side to it. Though really, I'd like to see more of the outside-of-battle things implemented, like a broader selection of clothing and room decoration stuff. So hopefully we start seeing a little variety in the updates soon.

One thing that should be realized with S rank missions is that many things may drop from this mission. I've seen equipment better than the A ranks in shops in a player shop, one mil each. So, in essence, we're getting easier ways to find existing items and ways to get new items. That, at least, should have some impact on nublets.

But yeah, I'm still waiting for that heavy battle armor for caseals along with Dus Roberto.

I was already stated by Sega that the Weekly Updates for December were going to implement S Rank Missions.

Yeah and along with that comes the things they dont annouce per update but is obviously implied: new drops scattered among said missions, which can affect you even if you dont yet play those missions. So its slightly more than just the release of a couple S rank missions per week. Story missions I beleieve started coming nearly weekly for Japan somewhat soon too, relative to our schedules.
