See those numbers over your heads? What's the highest you've seen? Info much appreciated.

Let's try this shit again. FTW.

Eeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww. 360.

Eww.

Actually, 360 has more players than the PC/PS2 version. At peak hours it wasn't uncommon to see a whole server more populated than the PC/PS2 servers, oddly enough.

I just have issues with that annoying voice chat and general community I've encountered. Otherwise I'd probably be back on the 360 version right now.

I'm more worried about that annoying loss of $200 or so on a second hand japanese 360. I suppose I'll have a JP reg code? If so then bonus, means people won't EXPECT me to speak to them.

I haven't noticed a difference in the player IDs of characters from different countries. Not like I really pay attention anyway.

Just make a character with a kanji name and put "jp only" in your party comments. Then only the really stupid people will bother you.

Really, what are the highest numbers over people' heads?

I am trying to decide whether to go 360 or go back to the Japanese PC version. I really need to know the size of the 360 community.

Just checked prices of a Japanese 360 and they are so low it ain't even funny.

LOL, same as PC then, least we can put the "360 has more players" junk to rest.

Well, guess now I have to research whether or not I need a credit card for Live, because I do not have a japanese CC sadly.

Dec 19, 2006, 04:01 AM
well, you don't need a Japanese credit card for Live per se, but you need one for PSU, or at least a CC matching the region of your gamertag.
Do you have a CC, if so from where?

-Shimarisu-
Dec 19, 2006, 04:07 AM
Got a UK CC, well three. NO clue if it will work, because I will be on a Japanese 360. I really don't want to import either.

Well, if you create a UK Gamertag you should be able to play PSU with that, even with the Japanese version of PSU.

Well if you're serious about playing 360 and those credit cards don't work, you could always look into Visa Gift Cards or perhaps Net Cash cards. If by chance, you do make the switch, look me up. My GT is Unknown Alias.

Since the game only requires a Silver Account on Xbox Live service, another thing you could do is just make another handle and report your region of origin as the U.K. and then perhaps it would accept your U.K. credit card. I did this myself so that I could access the open beta for Chrome Hounds (U.K. exclusive) and I'm in the U.S. so it could work.

But will it work on a Japanese 360, japanese copy of the game?

You're talking LITERALLY half the price for this thing. And no dicking about with importing. Nobody wants 360 here so they are cheap as dirt.

-Shimarisu-

I expect if it's JP PSU and JP 360, it'll need a JP gamertag, but that they'll accept netcash as credit cards are not very common here.

Will do more research, but I'm sure that's what I'll end up doing.

Meh, I'm really torn here. My friends are on PC, but it's really screwed. I've levelled these chars for 6 weeks. Can you say gutted? If it wasn't cheap for me to jump you bet your ass I'd stay, but $200 for this thing, jeez that's a small price to pay. I won't be playing any other games for at least the next year. If I could pay that to fix PC right now, I would.

Basically, the game just checks to see if you have a License on your gamertag, doesn't matter which region your tag is. That's how it worked for the US version on PAL machines. Because of that a lot of people from Europe used US tags, as the License wasn't available to EU players until the game came out here, a month after the US launch.
I doubt it will be different for the Japanese version, seeing they are all on the same servers. If you're having doubts, try and see if you can find someone with the Japanese version of the game and test it out before buying.

Not sure I really understand this, the jp site says I need a silver or gold membership, and I enter psu license via that, but it doesn't say how I buy the license for PSU. The X-Box 360 site says I can buy Live with netcash, ie I don't need a credit card. But I don't know how to get a PSU license via that, do I pay individually with a credit card or what? Can't get shit out of the US site information wise, and the jp site just says I buy it from marketplace, well is that with prepaid credits (netcash) or must I have a CC?

Prepaid Live cards are available pretty much everywhere. No credit card required. Just scratch the card and enter the code.

maybe they dont differ between xbox and ps2/pc GL numbers so its a total of roughly 30000 players globaly for all servers? just an idea.

I know you DO NOT need Gold to play, but I do think you need a credit card for the PSU subscription. I THINK; not sure if a JP Netcash card would work.

The highest number I've seen was a 30XXX (not counting the first 3 digits that never change).

Edit: In terms of server load, Xbox 360 (around after Dinner) usually caps out at Servers 1-2 being full, and 3 getting 2-3 stars. Weekends get a little more traffic, but that's the norm.

Right after the update 1-3 were full and 4 was at 2-3 stars though O_o

Is there anywhere I can buy a subscription for the game WITHOUT having it, you know, to test it works?

McLaughlin
Dec 19, 2006, 06:55 AM
The subscription is in the Marketplace. You don't need the game to get it. Not sure if there's a way around not having a 360 though...

Nowhere near. From what i have seen on peak hours of PSU ps2/PC the uni 1 will get 5 stars (rare that there are enough people on it to block me from going there) and uni 2 will manage about 3 sometimes 4 the rest either have 1 or 0 stars.

This is on Eastern standard time/GMT-5 and i consider peak hours between 4 and 12 PM.

Uni 1 and 2 were full and 3 was halfway right after the expert class update but then after the weekend there was (what i would call) heavy drop-off.

Can I access Marketplace without having a 360?

You can get at New Content on the Xbox website, but I couldn't find PSU on the list...

It's probably be easier if you went back to PSU JP, rather than banking on Net Cash to work.

Wait...If the Xbox website says you can pay for Live with Net Cash, I'd assume they'd let you buy the Lisence with it too. You'd just need to go to the Marketplace and buy the Guardian Lisence from there.

But don't quote me on that. I still think the safer bet is jumping back to PSU JP.

My friends aren't coming to PSU JP, but it looks like one can move to 360. I really need to know whether they accept foreign credit cards, or netcash. Nothing for it I guess but to ask on JP forums.

I believe Live looks for CC# to match the region their in(People around the world use to make US accounts for demos and movies/vice versa, Xbox live cracked down on this recently), so i dont know if it will accept it. Easiest thing to do would be to call Xbox customer support and see if you can use ur UK CC# for a JP PSU xbox live account.

McLaughlin

Why do you need a JP Xbox 360? Just get a PAL one. Xbox 360 PSU is region free.

And I was pretty sure they used whatever Country you entered in the email address that's linked to the Gamertag to figure out where you're located. THEN if they thought you were "the odd one out" they'd check into the credit card and BAM! You got busted.

JP 360 < imported UK 360 in price. I'd probably add a few more chevrons to that equation for more effect.
