I have an impersonator running around the American servers. This impersonator is a blue FOmarl named Melissa, just like my character. This impersonator was going around giving out copied Double Cannons, which I DID NOT MAKE.
"Melissa" has a calculated section ID of Yellowboze. I hacked my Melissa to Pinkal. Please use this as verification that a Melissa is me. No amount of spaces can be used to turn Melissa into Pinkal, because Pinkal, 5, is odd and Yellowboze, 8, is even. Only 2 people in GC PSO right now can hack IDs directly - me and clara. And you can bet that clara isn't the one doing this.

Barubary, I thought I saw you last night on Antares 8 just sitting in the lounge, but I didn't bother to look at the section ID. I even ran right up to 'you' to see what Melissa looked like. Also in the same night, I saw a strange weapon that I've never seen before, which one of the more experienced players ID'ed as a Double Cannon. Coincidence? Did I just see your impersonator or was that really you just taking the char/class data? lol
I was the oran HUnewearl named Len.
I'm assuming that the fake Melissa can't load the Halloween quest as "Melissa" did last night, correct?
Heh. And there's an "evil" Spy impersonator that acts like an asshole to everyone. I swear it isn't me!

I ran into a Mellisoa tonight? Don't remember her ID, was it the real you? She gave me her card and everything and i asked if it was BARUBARY (you) because she came into my game and said 856 People so far....and i thought she meant that you had allready started calculating average class selection....she might just be a whore from PSOW trying to get attention...if it was you then cool, but if not i'ma slap her! I hate impersonaters...especially Michael Jackson ones =P

I saw somebody in the servers last night as well, I believe it was you (I seem to remember hearing you tell people that you are the pink one). I was a Pinkal FOnewearl ChibiMunki.
On a seperate note (without asking you to give away any secrets n stuff), this hacking of IDs doesn't involve GS does it? I thought there was no GCN gameshark?

is this gcn-pc-link freely avaialable or selfmade?
i just ask to get an idea of how many ppl could do that right now. (lemme guess, only you and clara)
ah, and what happened to millenium-chan some weeks ago? i remember, she was off both servers (1. and 25. dc-version) when i looked for her. well now she seems to be on again, thats kind of nice. (and i even thought sega would have blocked her out, just like they would care or even know...)

You can buy at a few places. Only two people are currently manipulating things. Very few others can, and most of which who can don't want to bother using their knowledge on a game.
I talked to Bar briefly as my FOmar Hades tonight.

The hardest part is reading the code. Short of that it's extremely easy. Anyone with the link cable and a hex editor can go to town.
And no, Baru and Clara are not the only ones with the "power" to manipulate that are doing so. The "dupe-giving Barubary clone" is evidence of this enough.

I know of a couple people capable of duping, but neither have the knowledge to change their section IDs at will.

It's definitely not a matter of hardware - it's software. My "GC to PC link" is a standard LAN. By messing with my DNS settings on my Gamecube, I trick the game into logging onto my PC rather than onto Sonic Team's server. From there, I run a kind of proxy server that interfaces to Sonic Team's server, letting me change packets along the way.
On Dreamcast I did use a special cable. But on Gamecube no such cables exist, so I have to make do with what I've got. Changing my section ID in a way that is permanent and visible to myself (as opposed to only everyone else) was incredibly difficult, taking days of work. But since I did that, I can hack any part of my character data as I wish.

Rico was a HUmarl... just take a look at the Red weapons available. All of them are equippable by Hunters. There are no FO weapons and no RA-only weapons (like Rifles or Spreads).
When Baru. changes to a different character, it's most likely just a sprite change.

Hi Len! I agree, that was alot of fun. =-) I played with Ichigo some more last night, but couldn't find you. Look for me when you next log on!
So as far as I can tell, this method requires a little more thought and effort than the average duper / cheater is going to make an effort to do. Thats good. So it is not exactly going to be something that everybody starts doing =-)
