Not exactly, though it'd appear that way. While the Depths of the Earth DOES indeed corrupt it's wielder, it has no soul-stealing properties, nor is it really an opposing weapon to Limits of the Skies. They're simply two very powerful blades that end up clashing often, because they grant so much strength to their wielders. And you know what the strong like to do.
