I'd just thought I would answer your question that you posted on the revival board for you.

The parameters/percents on enemy attributes (Native, Beast, Machine, Dark) modify your damage to the respective enemy attributes when you attack them with your weapon. Therefore, the parameters will apply to regular attacking and Photon Arts, but NOT for techniques. When it comes to casting techniques with wands or rods, these parameters will not matter.

I'm not too sure about this red text thing you mentioned regarding your Al Azif though. If you meant to say it has a red weapon icon, it means it is photon fortified (that is what happens when you take a fully-grinded weapon to the customs shop on the right of Dairon City to increase a chosen parameter on the weapon by 5, 10, or 15 percent).
