In an attempt to spark some conservation in this part of PSO-W, I'm curious to know what did everyone use for their first character in PSZ? And you did like the character enough to raise him/her to level 100 and perhaps still use the character or did you hate said character for some reason and retired it for good?
I recall having a HUcast for my first character but then retired it at level 20 because I suffered from Can't-decide-what-character-I-want-to-be-itis.
FOnewm, named Chaosmaster (always been my first proxy in games; Sapphire came later on down, and only in Phantasy Star games or whenever I had to play as a female). Was a blast playing with him, got him to Lv100 in about 3 weeks after the game came out, and had him all the way up until he was my last retire, after almost 1000 hours on him, when I retired him into my FOmarl, Alice, since I only played with one cart at the time. Got my second cart up and running, and now I have 6 characters of different race/class combos, of which I only lack a Human Hunter (which I don't need at this point, HUnewearl and FOmarl do everything they could do better :P).
I chose RAcast for my first character because for whatever reason I always play android ranger in Phantasy Star games. I wish I had read up on rangers in PSZ before I made this decision. I got him to level 100 and messed around with him for 150+ hours before I got bored. Slowly getting back into the game now with a force.
Remembered playing a Racast as my first character in PSZ as well.
My first character was a Ramar named Ivan. I liked this character quite a bit, but deleted him later to make room for other characters. My next character was my red Hucast. This is the character that I've spent most of my time with and the first character I pushed to 100. About 2 weeks ago I put Ivan back in commision too.

ololol All I remember is waiting 5+ mins for a party online. That was great.
When I first got PSZ on its Western release date, I was initially conflicted between starting out as a RAcast or HUcast (I was a robot fan :3). I don't remember why, but I started out as a RAcast, and then created my HUcast after finishing the story with my RAcast.
I enjoyed playing PSZ as both of them, but by the time I reached the Super difficulty, I got pretty demotivated from raising my RAcast, due to how many shot-resistant enemies there were. I guess it didn't really help that I mainly grinded in Oblivion City Paru and Arca Plant. Thus, I found myself grinding Super much more with my HUcast until I found some powerful melee weapons for my RAcast (which took over a year, due to mostly playing the came casually until I finally started playing online). Therefore, I got my HUcast to Lv100 first within a year, and then took much longer getting my RAcast to Lv100, and even then, I'd be spending most of my time on PSZ as my HUcast.
Then for some reason, I wanted to try out techs, and thus started a FOmar. It was pretty fun as well, but I retired PSZ before I even got him to Lv90. However, I remember I traded a Rika's Claw to someone for a Trois Souther with 50 Accuracy Adjustment, Lv3 element, and Bright Sign, and threw that thing at anything and everything more often than spamming Rafoie and Razonde. :3

I know this statement has been said too many a time, but I'd really like a PSZ sequel. preferably on the 3ds. I've tried both psp titles, but they didn't capture me like this game did. A perfect combo of old and new Phantasy Star gameplay.
I played a lot of PSU and also a newcomer to the Phantasy Star games so I pre-ordered a copy when it was announced on Nintendo Power. When I got a copy I made a HUmar named Noblewine. I'm still playing but offline mostly. I love the combat and the mystique in this game.

I think the game had been out for a month before I convinced my brother to get Phantasy Star Zero. I heard about the game from playing with some of my friends on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time. That was a pretty fun run. Lots of hours well spent. I think it might have been close to new years when I got it, because I remember going to a friends house to pop fireworks, and telling my brother how much fun the game would be. I let my brother try it out first, because he was the one who purchased the game.
His first character was a HUnewm ( or whatever the Male Hunter Newman are called; Cut me some slack! I haven't played in a while!). He seemed to really like his choice. When it was finally my turn to play, I followed in suite. I made my HUnewm with a green suite and hair. I reached lvl 100 maybe a year and a half after I got it. I took my time with the game, and spent many hours online playing with friends. I think I spent more than 400+ hours on PSZ. It was loads of fun. I would like to make a robot hunter, or even a human ranger. Maybe I will. I just wish I could still play online.
My favorite place on PSZ is probably the ARCA PLANT ( if playing online), but I really enjoyed doing the Eternal Tower in offline play. I also visited Dark Shrine and Ruins often. Good times. PSZ also had pretty good music. In fact, I bought the 4 disc soundtrack recently. Love it!
It has been said before, but PSZ really should have a sequel. I didn't have nearly as much fun with Phantasy Star Portable 2 as I did with PSZ. I have been playing PSO 1&2 for gamecube as of late.

I've also chase HUcast , but after cleaning the story i deleted it 'cause he can't heal himself without heal traps (you can carry only 5 of them at once). So i created a HUnewm and now i'm 94. Good choose i suppose :D
Mate, you use Mates to heal as a Cast. Heal Traps are mostlyemergency use only, since they can be used as back-up revival in dire times (lay just before getting killed, trap goes off and revives you on the spot). You use Mates to heal chip damage until then.Quote:

When I got the game on release day (I was sick as a dog but I wasn't going to wait), I started off as a HUcast, but I found it frustrating with that stupid octopus, so I then restarted with a HUmar. During the time that the PSZ forum was up & running, I also became a part of the Rappy Guild, and that made the game so much more fun. Playing on a constant basis never made it feel old, and I still remember the one time where a high level character among a group of newly created avatars used a charged up shot from a laser cannon and killed the dragon with that one shot.
I still have the game to this day, and though I came close to trading it in once, I decided against it. Of all the games I have for my 3DS, that one is still my personal favorite.
First character was a a RAmar I named Doc (after Doc Holiday), but I retired him at level 20-ish. Now I run a Level 25 RAcaseal named Mariana, and a Level 100 HUnewearl named Kathryn.
