Since the fashion threads have been getting less posts year-over-year (2349 posts in 2016, 953 in 2017, 516 in 2018, and just a bit over 300 in 2019), I've decided to have the 2019 thread continue into 2020 and beyond. Although we saw fewer posts, there were still many unique and interesting costumes and characters, and hopefully we will continue to see them and more in the coming year, especially with the graphics update and NGS coming this year.
"What is the point of this thread?"
I feel that TenebriS answered that question quite well in one of the past year's threads:

Each of us, has a different view on fashion and what we like and enjoy. In this thread however, we can all come together to share our fashion with each other and also enjoy the fashion of other people. Of course, everybody has a different taste to what they like when it comes to fashion, so always keep that in mind. What you my like others might not and vice versa.
But we can offer advice and our opinions in form of constructive criticism, to help others improve their style or get a different view on it. This has helped many people with their characters in the past.
So remember, no one is an absolute, objective expert on fashion as we all have our own unique and completely subjective likes and dislikes; if you have an opinion on someone’s look, it is great to provide constructive criticism (ie. feedback that gives your opinion on how you think the look can be improved), but if you cannot do so, realize that merely saying that someone’s design is “trash” or “ugly” as if it is objective fact is unacceptable.
Tips for Getting Unique Shots
Quote:
Camera Angles:
Spoiler!
While it is possible to get some good shots using the default game camera, it can often times leave a lot to be desired, but luckily the game does have an option to create custom Fixed Cameras.
To do so, open up the Quick Menu (by default Middle Mouse or Select/Back on a Controller), and pick "Camera Select;" once you select one of the three Fixed Cameras, you can rotate around and zoom in/out on your character using the on-screen options.
*Premium users have access to 6 Fixed Cameras while Free users have access to 3.
Facial Expressions:
Spoiler!
Sometimes you want your character to chow a bit more life in their face, and there are chat commands that can help with that.
Using the chat command “/ci#” will make your character perform one of 9 facial expressions. When using the “/ci#” command, there are several other modifiers that can be used:
By default, when using the "/ci#" command a cut-in windows will appear, but adding the modifier "nw" will remove it.
You can determine how long the expression will last with the modifier "s#".
Adding #1-5 after "/ci#" will have your character's eyes look in certain angles; one thing to note is that where your character’s eyes are looking is determined by your camera angle, so you may have to mess around to get them to look exactly where you want.
These can all be combined as well if that is what you are looking for; for example, having the command "/ci9 4 nw s30" will have your character winking while looking down for 30 seconds with no cut-in window.
Similarly, typing "/ce" will get your character to look directly at the camera; by default, it only lasts for 10 seconds, but by typing "/ce on" it will stay on until you log out (or until you type "/ce off"). If you want every character to look at you, you can type "/ceall on" and all eyes will be on you.
Here is the list of chat commands with their corresponding expressions (note that all expressions except 7 and 9 will have your character moving their mouth as if talking):
/ci1 || /ce1: The default look
/ci2 || /ce2: Smile
/ci3 || /ce3: Angry
/ci4 || /ce4: Sad
/ci5 || /ce5: Suspicious
/ci6 || /ce6: Eyes closed
/ci7 || /ce7: Default without moving mouth
/ci8 || /ce8: Smile 2
/ci9 || /ce9: Wink
If typed as "/ce# on", your expression will last until you leave the area or type "/ce off".
You can now also freeze your character's expression with the "/ce# stop" command, which will stop the expression and eye-line at the position they are when you input the command (so it may take a few tries to get it just right).
If you want to change your eye-line once your expression is chose without resetting the face, you can use the "/ce on" command to unfreeze the eyes, and then move them as you want; inputting "/ce# stop" will then freeze the eyes again in your desired position.
Hiding the UI:
Spoiler!
By default, when you take a screenshot of the game, the UI will be visible in the image, but there are a few ways to get rid of it:
Hit Ctrl+Print Screen and the UI will be hidden in the screenshot.
Disable the UI for screenshots in the Options Menu; the option is in Basic Settings, under Screenshot Settings.
Use the chat command "/uioff" and it will disable the UI in-game; you can set the amount of time you want the UI hidden by adding a number up to 600, so typing "/uioff 600" will hide the UI for 600 seconds/10 minutes (you can re-enable the UI at any time by accessing the menu). This is particularly useful for taking screenshots with an external program when using post-processing as the game will not capture them.
Premium Options:
Spoiler!
In the past year, SEGA has added some perks for Premium users related to taking shots, including Custom Lighting and Lobby Action Freezing.
To use Custom Lighting, go to the same menu as “Camera Select;” once there, you can modify the focal point (with similar controls to the Fixed Cameras), the intensity, and the color of 3 different light sources.
Lobby Action Freezing lets you pause a Lobby Action at a specific time to allow you to more easily get those in-between motions without having to rapid-fire press your PrtScrn key. To use this feature, you use the chat command “/la (lobby action) s#.#” with the “#.#” representing the timestamp of where you want to freeze the LA; for example “s1.2” will freeze the LA at 1.2 seconds. By default, the freeze will only last a short while, but by modifying the command to “ss#.#” the LA will stay frozen until you move or use a new LA.
What about LAs that have a button press that changes the action? In order to use that secondary action to freeze, you must use the chat command “/la hsi1 s#.#” while already in the initial Lobby Action; for example, to freeze the bowing portion of the Refined Greeting LA, you would first use the LA (either from the Quick Menu or by using the chat command “/la greeting”), then in a new chat window, you would type the command “/la hsi1 s1.2” (or “/la hsi1 ss1.2” if you want the indefinite freeze).
With all that out of the way, remember to have a great time and show off the styles that make you, you; you never know who you can inspire by putting yourself out there!
Looks like the fashion this year is off to a great start. Excellent combination of Body Paints, Basewear and Outerwear. It works stunningly well. Good Job!

Happy New Year!
Here have some Monster Girl! Surprisingly the stuff I used is kinda old by now, not sure why I didnt try sooner....
Not mine. Just wanted to ask the gurus here - anyone know what type of base/template is used? For the face. Is it the eyelash, makeup pupils, whichever... I can't for the life of me get my eyes to look like those rounder-like shapes.

I don't think it's template, more like it's custom-maded. This screenshot have too low resolution to get face details, so I can tell used: basewear, innerwear, hairstyle and 3 accerssories only.
And I definitely can tell: It's not a Newman race.

Plus there's bonus weeks which I hate along with various campagns 'cause they're didn't left any spare time not only for casual things but even for TACOs...
Nao God this guy is so spoiled when it comes to fashion stuff

idk which of the Ar Tonelico girls I got the inspiration for this from. Probably mishmashed since it's been a long time since I last played any of the series https://puu.sh/CtSli/980e9f7f62.png

Would've been more but going to salon to change is a pain (plus no premium so stuck with 10 slots of presets) https://puu.sh/CtSdT/0d76d22877.png
P3 Protag Hair + Haruka = <3 That is all
Also it's not that noticeable but switched over from the deuman dark skin to a more natural human/newman tone.
Best update imo https://puu.sh/CtSC1/b4df01c280.png
We're over a week into 2019... but Happy New Year, everyone!
Revival Scratch seems to have given us a few goodies here and there. I used a few of these goodies [and a shameful amount of meseta and AC ^^; ] to put together a fashion that... I think justifies everything.
Yep, she's adorable.

Ah, I understand what you mean. Thank you for the tip~
In a dilemma though, I don't know whether to stay with black lashes or white ones hhdjfgdgfjd
The black lashes look okay but kinda out of place, while the white lashes are barely visible-ish :sweats:
Unless you have something else to go with it, imo, never use white eyelashes. They blend it way too much and look unnatural. Black eyelashes help make your eyes stand out. If not satisfied with how they look then try going with a kind that stands out less or if you really prefer white then go with some kinda eyeliner or makeup to help them stand out better.

There's only one usable without this problem.
Named: Painted Eyelashes White.
They looks fine with darker or dark-nonhuman skin.
If you want - you can try, I saw them cheap recently, but low quantity.

Personally the black lashes helps ground the characters floaty white nonexistence. Having a break in the same colors makes it easy to see and identify.

Roll with the black one.
Darker lashes are there to add a 'pop' to your eyes by adding a visible outline between your eyes and skin. It's why mascara is a thing IRL

As others have mentioned, the white eyelashes kinda gets lost in your overall color palette, but if you want to go with something that isn't black, the blue or brown versions of the eyelashes can give a unique pop that isn't as dark as the black or as shockingly pale as the white.
So trying to see if I can make an organization 13 costume, but having trouble finding anything close to the cloak and hood combo. Anyone got anything they think looks close? Reference: https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/...20110801173657

I've tried my best to find a good use for this outer without using the assorted basewear which is absolutely awful imo (most notably the boots). I guess space cowboy we go
So I’d been wondering this for a bit now, but was there ever any like, circus themed attire? I don’t believe I’ve ever seen any, but I would love to find out.

There have been some outfits that may be close to "circus" themed visually (like Folly Tailor or Sweet Bearaddo) but there have not been any outfits that I can recall that are actually circus themed.

I still don't know how to upload images directly btw.
No need to upload directly here since it actually breaks more often than not, but if you mean have the images show up as images, you just need to wrap the image url in image tags: [IMG][/ IMG] (without the space in the second tag).
So, I was wanting to revive the "Character Spotlight" from the older threads since often times it feels like this thread is just a dump of posts with very little other interaction; however, as I am not one of excess funds, it would be just an update to the opening post with the month's selected spotlight, but without an AC/webmoney code prize (which most people don't even use anymore thanks to PSO2es). Basically it would just be recognition of a particular player's creativity as decided by their peers.
To participate in the choosing of January's Spotlight, send me a PM titled "January Spotlight" with a link to the post or the post number(as indicated in the top right of the post) you want to nominate by this Thursday(specifying a particular image within a mulit-image post would be appreciated).
Whatever post/image gets the most nominations will be spotlighted, but in the case that it is dead even(examples: 5 different posts are nominated once each, or 2 posts getting 3 nominations each), I will select one at random to be the Spotlight(if one of my own posts is nominated in this situation, I will remove it from the random selection to avoid the perception that I am just picking my own stuff).
While I am not explicitly prohibiting self-nomination, I really would prefer if people would nominate other users' fashion that have impressed them or tickled their fancy the most.

With that out there, here are a couple of things from me:
I wanted to give Rhian a different look for each of the three Fighter weapons (with her "standard look" being the Double Saber (form changed to Skia Blade) outfit):
EDIT: Just got the Puso Nii manga, so I whipped up a quick Valentine's look for Gayle just to do a couple of quick shots with the LAs (panty shot warning for the second image).
Not bad! But why you don't flip a camera to 90° for better shooting?
eh how do i do this?

When you are using the Camera Select option from the Quick Menu, you can rotate the camera as you please; on a controller, screen orientation rotation is left and right on your Left thumbstick, and it is A and D on a keyboard.

Vintasticvin
A great evil returns to the Phasion Scene from the abyss of obscurity! Low-Res Phashionist Vintasticvin!!
Hope you all been well now let's get this show on a roll yeah?
Welcome back to the fold Vintasticvin, it's always good to see a past fellow inma... I mean, fashionista, return.
~~~~~~~~~
I would like you all to come on a journey with me.
So, due to a lack of interest in the revival of the monthly spotlight (I do profusely thank those few who actually did send in nominations), I decided to scrap the idea; well, this left me a little bummed out, and that's when the itch reared its head once again, perhaps as a way to try and make me find a fashion-based relief for the aforementioned bummed-outness.
As I was playing around with the character creator, I decided to go against some of my normal character creation tenents (like I only usually stick with "realistic" hair colors, so no bright primary colors), and despite knowing that I could only commit to making one new character right now, I became attached to two potential designs, a tall, lanky male Deuman (Stavros) and a stockier, buff-ish female Deuman (Deianira):
Now, you may ask, why not just make both? The answer was simple, really: that I only had enough AC to make one character and get the currently discounted 50-inventory slot expansion bundle. So I was left wracking my brain, trying to choose between my two creations; do I make a third male character, or do I make a third female Deuman? How could I possibly choose one over the other, especially as I started to create backstory for each in my head?! HOW?!
I just flipped a coin.
And so I present to you, Deianira (pronounced die-uh-NEER-a) in her finalized form:
Base outfit (Ranger Vent Shadow [Ou] w/ Lady Tracker Madder [Ba]):
@Anduril
Deianira looks fantastic! Really love the hairstyle you've picked for her final! Also like the outfit choices you've posted, the contrast they all create is some neat stuff.
After a long while I finally post as well and this time with a new character actually, so please meet my newman girl Erdbeere.
Thank you. I picked up that curls accessory a while ago and never really used it, but when I was playing around with her hair, I thought it might work to give that super fit yet feminine look.
Also, Erdbeere looks really cute with a sassinees to her.
Tymek
This is my first contribution to the thread for this year, I think?
@Tymek: I knew that that Zodiac Camo [Ou]+Sharp Order [Ba] combo would look good; I've really been wanting to do it on one of my characters, but I've just had bad luck with the SG scratch.
@silo1991 and Vintasticvin: Both of your characters look really good with that combo of tan skin and red outfits.
@Masu: I really love the composition of that shot. Also, what eyes are those? It's so hard to check how they look through the AC Scratch website and through the MyShop.
~~~~~~~
I switched Branwyn back to her Stella Memories look, and just gave it a few slight tweaks along with using the new Adein Elna Hair.

Manga Eyes E L ( マンガ風瞳E 大 ) and indeed, I always cringe at how shitty visiophone window preview is for this kind of stuff. I easily wasted millions because of this >:v This link may be useful tho http://maucha.blog100.fc2.com/blog-entry-1753.html
And thanks!

I'm alive ! well given how dismal the male side of scratches has been lately, I haven't been able to come out with nice looks involving newer wear...which means Peridot gets some more love !
Peridot
Spoiler!
[ If only this basewear shoes weren't so ugly...oh well let's hide them then xD)
@Vintasticvin: Oh wow! She looks amazing! I especially love the shot on the floor with the heart, that's super fancy. Also lol the one infront of the PSO2 logo is such a mood.
I was already a bit short on meseta due to finally getting doubles of all the Simple Choker Fs, so I was only able to grab a couple of Basewears and Haristyles (only one of each, for now).
Charlotte: Just a new hairstyle (Forte Hair); I think it gives her a spunky and sporty look.
Andrea: New hairstyle (Juste Hair) and basewear (Orient Grace Elegant [Ba] in images 2&3; just her standard Magia Savior Snow in image 1); I like how this hairstyle looks like a longer version of the Taulia Hair that she has been using since it came out.
Deianira: Got her the Forge Line Winter [Ba], though I was considering the Madder version as well; first two images are with Ranger Vent Shadow [Ou], third is with Tsubasa Elegant Shadow [Ou].

New scratch, new looks!
Thank you thank you your characters look just as amazing and youthful.The graphic power up I got has boosted my posting confidence greatly.
@Everyone: I'm totally digging the variety of styles in the posts as well as seeing a male character prescence thrilled about seeing old posters from my time still on the fashion beat. This was the Phashion I remembered and loved.
@TakemiShinnosuke: That combination looks really good.

Decided to give my guys a little love; both have arrived at Franka's Cafe for a date(not with each other).
Noland: Having finally asked out his crush successfully, he arrives an hour early out of sheer nervousness he would be late or she would be early. He paces around the Cafe hoping that he isn't overdressed and that she doesn't find it creepy that he wore a tie in her favorite color.
Finninan: She told him that she wanted to have a nice dinner where he wasn't fully armored or dressed like a mechanic for once, so he went to buy new clothes; the attendant told him that these were the latest fashion, but he wasn't so sure. To top it off, he couldn't remember what time she told him to arrive, so he came straight from the store. Unfortunately, he would be waiting for three hours, but she would love the outfit, finding it hilarious looking compared to his normal attire.
This ... Bard(?) style costume or something _(:3」
It's really cool XD

Right : Shino (alt, currently used for storage, not much time playing :< )
