Yah, even if it's the same version of Directx, most games include their own little bits into the installers that are required, otherwise you can't play.

Try checking the box in the options that says "Don't save character data to server" or something like that. I clicked it on and I was able to get online and in single player no problem.

I read while piping, I just memorize the direction to move back into the pipe, go down, look up to check, if not, pipe on the spot and go back to reading. I surprisingly got about 50 pages read out...

It's only faster by a marginal amount, mainly, it cuts that annoying wait time of casting Ryuker. But, when you consider the time it takes for you to buy and drop the telepipes, it probably evens out...
