That is total BS and gives Sega A BS excuse. How come PS2 did not "hold back" FF11? They(game) have 500,000 users with 2 million characters as of right now. It was released on the PS2 first in JP...

Sega Japan wanted to be separatists, obviously not a good business practice. They failed in everyway compared to say FF11 server setup. Glad you are enjoying yourself but they wanted to be seperate...
