Honestly, I'd prefer rares be completely untouchable when affixing, but having at least one ability that either doesn't take up a traditional affix slot...

Photon Drop: Dunno what it'll be used for yet. But said to be something of value.
Grinder: For grinding weapons/units.
Synthesizer: For buffing elemental attributes of weapons.

And for me it's:

1) Log on and AFK in Camp Ship.
2) Check every hour for an emergency mission.
3) Get distracted and miss an hour.
4) Find out that emergency mission came and went.
5) Continue...
