There's no offline single story mode like PSU. The closest thing is reading the message capsules as you work your way to killing the Episode 1 or 2 bosses, or picking missions from the quest counter....

When I started a new techer I was able to finish IG when I got to my 20's. You need at least a B rank to get mp. If you can s rank it, running IG for mp is good at low levels because it's short.
