I think it depends on what colour you select first for a newly created character's clothes. I've noticed some differences between my mags when I do multiplayer runs on my own to get more experience points. I think you have to select blue or something for a newly created Hunter.

rati body will always be red.
Rati experts have come to a conclusion that the blue Rati was nothing more than odd lighting or something like a "bad look" at the Mag.
"Here you can see a picture of the very first Rati i ever raised. He was raised from True (bright) Yellow mag. Rati does color change. His wings will be the color of the original baby mag you started with. I have not yet found a way to change his main body color, but it is possible. To date i've seen only one though, with a Blue main body."

Sorry, it isn't possible, but feel free to link to the guide and I'll take a look at it. NM found the guide. What Dropslash referred to was an old pic of a Rati that was taken and because of the way the light was hitting the Rati and the angle of the image, the Rati kinda appeared to have a blue body. That was proven incorrect however a LONG time ago

He meant the Body (the red part of the rati) was blue according to the guide. He didn't mean the blue wings.
Aw... I wanted a blue rati.
