I use to play PSO and just got PSU with live and am sooo confused on the batteling system. I remember on the GC version of PSO you can set 3 button configuration. is PSU limited to two (besides the palette)? And do techniques have to applied to wands? cuz I miss my force running around with a saber and being able to cast foie right away or other techniques.

Technics have to be linked to your wands, rods, and soon madoogs in order to use magic. On your items screen, select your wand and you'll see an option that says "Link Photon Art".

Except that they are about to be able to run around with saber/dagger in hand while spewing techniques...

A lot of the techers who thought that way went back to PSO or to other games, and many who play the teching classes also think it's stupid as hell - but begrudgingly accept it.

Feed men, and then ask of them virtue!

    I thought the same thing.

However, when you get used to them, TRUST me you will miss the PSO system/pso spells no more.

I like the wand/Rod/Madoog casting system better than the old PSO days. Now when I am spamming Resta or buffs I am not impacting the TP/PP needed for other spells.

Also, Wands/Rods/Madoogs made better sense as far as storyline goes. How else were they going to explain to a Newman that he could no longer use the Foie he has always had and is burned into his mind just because his Hunter Type had changed...

"Techniques can only be used with the aid of Wands/Rods/Madoogs and only select types have the license to use them." Makes far better sense than, "we have to ask you to stop using your psychic abilities as this job type because it is unballancing."
