The main character isn't an emo kid.
I would love an English trailer. I'm enjoying Persona 3 quite a lot.
who's the main character in Persona 4? I really haven't tried these games from
what I heard, since the main character is mute, they shoulda let
people choose the main character's gender sorta like in Legend of
Mana.
anyways the games sound somewhat disturbing cause I heard they
choose themselves in the head with a special gun to summon their
persona or whatever the summons are. That sure is a morbid
parody of what's normally suicide.
but I dunno, I heard the games are tedious and hard, so I didn't
want to take the risk. but the anime HS students theme sounds
keen, but wonder how much there is in character interaction but
overall I heard it's mostly just dungeons and fighting. and I heard
Persona 3 FES is nothing but dungeons or something.
but ya, I dunno. maybe I'll research Persona 4 a bit. it sounds like its about a murder mystery or
something. and it takes place in the countryside
instead of a city...blah. I dunno if this would
interest me.

shin megumi tensei games are known for being morbid.
they have a really interesting theme to them, and yea, there is alot of character interaction.
not the best game, but just an interesting thing to own.
try SMT nocturn. that game changed my life lol
in fact you know I just went to wiki and looked at every single SMT game. I WANT THEM ALL!!!! wish they would release a a collection cause were the hell am I gunna get a famicon?
oh cool, character interaction is a good thing. it would make it feel
like an episodic anime people can't find anywhere else.
well the morbid stuff I can handle, it's just that I think this series has
a character creation or at least a duo selection like Star Ocean 2
and Legend of Mana. well ya SO2's mains weren't mute, but it's just
an example since Persona seems to have a mute character kinda
like Chrono Trigger.
but ya, it would have provided more flavor in case people don't like the
main character's design or whatever, and it still wouldn't contradict the
story.
overall the art seems pretty good.
I'm still waitng to get Persona 3 Fes, that will be the first one I have played...
Can't wait for P4, even if they took the evokers out. Looking forward to exploring a larger world. Also, hooray it's on Playstation 2
I had never before played a Shin MegaTen game, but had been aware of them since Persona 1 on psx. The artstyle of P3 grabbed me enough to get my interest, and the bizarre "evokers", aka the guns they shoot themselves in the head with every-time-they-use-any-magic-attack-etc sold me. Oh and the artbook, soundtrack and special box sealed the deal (anything that reminds me of Lunar: Silver Star Story...sigh).
Anway! I bought it and it was......a reawakening for me. RPG's have felt kind of dead lately. Even the good ones. FFXII, Dragon Quest 8....they were good/great/whatever but they felt so familiar. P3 is different. Though the dungeon you trudge through can outstay its welcome when you get passed 70 or so hours into the game, the beautifully deep characters you befriend during the daylight hours are enough to draw you back in everytime. I can not say this enough, not since FFX have I felt I know ANY characters so well as the ones you meet in this game. Not just the main characters you fight alongside mind you, but the "NPC's" that you build social links with as well. They all have stories, feelings, vulnerabilities, joys and pains to share with you. Their stories reveal the things in life we would rather not think about (dying before one's time, self-injury, betrayal of trust, losing family, realizing your parents have serious flaws and feeling lost) but do so in a non cliche way. The voice acting is also excellent, probably the best of any console rpg with spoken dialogue outside of Kingdom Hearts. As you build your social links, your personas can increase their abilities faster, but it's all secondary to how fun and refreshing it is to just get to know a character in the game. Your responses can yield either positive or negative results, so the replay value is high. I've logged about 75 hours but have played well over 90 if you count all the 'alternate scenario' play-throughs that I did.
For example, you can spend time with girls in the game. It's all mostly naive enough, no porno elements thank you very much. But if you stop hanging out with one and start hanging out with another, the first one will call you. If you choose not to hang out with her when she asks you, she will be disappointed. Disappoint her enough and she will shun you. All is not lost however, if you treat her more nicely you can repair your broken friendship/relationship. Same goes for other friends you make, disappoint them enough, disregard their feelings during dialogue tree choices and your friendship will be affected. This is the part of the game that will stay with me forever.
The game does have a morbid/dreary overtone, but I guarantee after you play the game you will see homeless people in a different light. I think this game has a hidden subtext about people who are 'lost' in their lives, and that we all need to step up and do something even if we never get any credit for it. And that is something deep, indeed.
or maybe i read wayyyyyyyy too much into this game
btw P3 FES is not all a dungeon crawler, it's more of a director's cut version. It is P3 all over with new persona's and events, but yes the added ending stuff "FES" is all Aigis in a different dungeon that progresses more like the older Persona MegaTen games, with no daytime school events. All storyline takes place in the dungeon.

Ghetto lady thinks your froggy's name is Lou McGopher
you arent looking to deep into it. SMT games all have sort of hidden meanings in the games. seriously everyone, try SMT3 Nocturn. for ps2 it is amazing.
persona is kinda of a less mature SMT game, but it is still amazing. in i havent played TES yet, but I plan on it. I luv it lol. every character is unique. in Nocturn, there are only a few char in the whole game, but there personalities are focused on so much that it practically makes the game. you play as the main char who is speechless and dark. hell DANTE from DMC is in the game, SO GO BUY IT NOW
also, if you like the whole hidden meaning thing then go get all 3 xenosagas. they are packed with biblical referances. I never finished the 3rd one though. but look at it on wiki. it is really interesting

Saner, you would probably really enjoy Persona 3. The overworld section of the game is a straight-up dating-sim type game. You go to class, make friends, join clubs, meet up with people, and so on. And at night, you explore a hellish, randomly-generated dungeon. It's like you're the main character of a really stylish anime.
I sort of wish P3 let you create your own character (since the main character never speaks), but the awesome anime cutscenes make up for this, almost.
