So, when drawing your character, does it still count as FanArt if I use a background / effects + texts created by PhotoShop?

Yes, I'll have Arika clarify it in the top post later. But for this contest, we're having photoshopping mean anything that is originally based on a screenshot.

For example, cutting and pasting in game characters -> http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...esbianLove.png
Or a more complex vectoring like the character in my signature is actually a trace of my character shooting a shotgun. Both would be in the photoshopping category.

EDIT: To clarify what I mean by that is a trace, heres a side by side:

This sounds like a real good idea! I'll try but when it comes to color Im still on the low end of intermediate unless its vector art (which can take an eternity) I may be late to this party but hopefully Ill get something in before the 20th.
    Im really not that dangerous...

    Alright, thanks for the info.
So basically there's 2 categories then:
    1. Screenshot based = PhotoShop
    2. RL effort aka drawing = FanArt

    edit:
Yeah, just reread the top post, didn't get it at first because some parts looked a bit messy to me.

As I clarify on the main post.
if you draw your character by your own, so it will count as "Art work"
even you use photoshop to make addition things.

Art work + photoshop combine usually contribute a very good work. I love it .
(there are many good works result from art work draw combination with photoshop color in tutorial that I linked)

Oh, and there is 1 more thing I should add
theme is your character story, but this doesn't mean that it need to have only your character! You can see from JP examples that I picked, they can have NPC characters, friends character or your own dream party too.

I'm down. I actually started working on an illustration as a side project, but it's still in the beginning stages. This will give me motivation to see it through.

Can I just pm you a basic outline sketch Arika? I will be doing all my work in photoshop, but it will be an original piece, not an altered screenshot. Lemme know what works.

Always been a shame that we never got any art competitions like the JP ver. Good idea, just a pitty theres not much in it for 360 players like myself. D:

Though it could be fun to enter for fun if time allows...
