I mean, when you get the true ending, you get freeroam mode. Can't be bad, right?

Nope, free mode sucked, too. Your health gradually decreased, so you had to be on the hunt for healing items all the time. Hardly fun for a semi-casual gamer (like myself) who doesn't like to stress about things while playing. I was going to give Dead Rising 2 a chance, barring that there was another ridiculous "time limit", but alas, there is. So, I'm passing on it.
Its actually like any other game, with that just being a big trope everyone harping on, heard it on the Internet and only few brave souls contest it.

Do you beat other games with the first 4 - 7 hour playthrough? Wouldn't you say that was a short terrible game then with not enough to do? Maybe they gave things too quick, and you only got to use them in like one instance instead of having time to use such powers more thoroughly to your hearts content?

Yes, they do force you to repeat the game over. But like other games you know what to do now or a better idea this time around. Like an RPG, you're stronger the second time, which is not always a given along the way, but way overpowered so its just a breeze through with story or replay some parts you liked - given only at the very end. Maybe optional dungeon or etc. This one, nearly every kill is helping you in the end. Might feel a long way getting there, but lot less grind than other games.

With 3 max walking speed, there's more than enough time to get the longer, unlocking endings.

It was a survival mode. With stopping the story anytime, you can have your own free mode without losing health, which was slow enough and plenty of food around anyway - consult a map if needed, or watch for them in the places to remember how to grab food first or quick heal when necessary.

"Semi-casual" drop in and out have fun zombie smashing gameplay, that's what Dead Rising was. If you understood it. And no, the save system wasn't "bad" either. It was for dropping in and out. No "gaming" the game with save-re-save to do things over, sometimes tediously for like one item or something nonsense. Saving everyone was kinda nonsense and wasn't necessary, with some bad AI escort missions - like other games.

From what I've seen of Fable, it just plays itself. Mash X. Can do some freeze time spells, fireballs, or what have you, but been there done that, and always promised gold dolphin revolution. You're old and bearded before you know it, with no time to check out much, but just rush to the end of the game. Despite everything they throw in and want you to check out, nope, next playthrough you can waste time doing that. but unlike Dead Rising, I didn't want to.

The good thing for everyone: everyone ends up buying these two series way too much, so there's always discounted price later, for both games with flaws/potentially flaws. Possibly not Dead Rising 2 this time. Demo was wonky, full Case Zero said to have crap driving controls, but didn't read too many reviews. They also might not have played the first and dealt with it, or it could've gotten worse. New developer and all, trying to be more Western than overcomplicated collect a thon-Japanz.

    OP guy.

Get game now, save/get other gift/money Xmas and get Fable 3 later. That "You can get your Xmas gift now, nuh uh and nothing later." really doesn't hold up. But you should eventually look into getting your own games. Responsible for getting the money, then you can be mad if something you put earned money down on, didn't live up to snuff --- so don't look at Fable series, better to have it gifted, "At least I didn't have to buy it - was essentially free."

Dead Rising 2 seems like it'll be a fun romp. The weapon-crafting stuff seems like the game's best new addition. The demo had some awesome custom weapons. Of course, it promises lots of zany fun, especially when the maniacs come into play. (I guess I loved Dead Rising 1 for the same zany aspects, as it was the first time I've seen Capcom kind of copy "Crazy Games'" off-beat brand of humor seen in games like Illbleed.)

Still, Fable III looks to be pretty nice, though I'm not sure it'll really go beyond much of what Fable 2 did with the exception of some new battle visuals to make your character look cooler than before. Fable II, depending on your build, did have some challenging parts even though I really thought they were making the game system a bit too easy, that time. If Lionhead would steal a little idea from Dungeon Hackers, and implement a system which allows you to pick a more difficult (but with higher rewards) playthrough, I think they'll have a good solid compromise.

Still, my choice is easy. I still have more to do in Fable II before I'm ready to leap into Fable III. And Halloween season is coming very soon. I think I'll start with a heap of Zombies at the door.

I saw this topic and I thought I was in gamefaqs.

The whole jist topic certainly looks like a gamefaqs topic.
But don't worry. It hasn't gone to gamefaqs yet. Not until we have a flood of topics asking whether various Phantasy Star releases will be ported to [insert console here].

I'd say Dead Rising 2, just because I never really fell in love with Fable.

Idk, with the way these titles are, you can just wait for a month or 2, and get them both for the price of 1.

Get a job and get both

Erm i'd say Fable for longevity. Dead Rising is more a casual game I found, got repeatative quickly as the first one did and is good for unwinding every now and then for a half hour hack n slash fest.

But it can be the most hardcore diaper on Japan complicated test of endurance 24 hours of lemons and Le Mans, break your XBLOX overheat left on the whole time (much more than one of these PSU players saying they left theirs on all the time), get you a worldwide untouchable record - unless someone figures out a higher place to die then fall off during the canned animations interrupted, then another death animation that lasts 2 in game minutes

Yeah, I kinda ran into almost that same scenario already in Fable II. My cousin just bought the game and I was helping him nab a few achievements since he's pretty much lost in the wilderness when it comes to RPGs. Ended up having my female character in a three-way between her bi-sexual prostitute wife and my cousin's male side-kick character. Which of course, the nub wasn't using protection and results in my female hero getting pregnant with the (probably mushyheaded) offspring of that unholy union with my cousin's character.

So I hope he appreciated that achievement unlock, because I can't even step foot in Fairfax Gardens anymore.

On somewhat of a plus side, since the villain of Fable III is supposed to be one of the the sons of your Fable II hero, then at least I can exterminate the little abomination in a more cinematic and satisfying fashion. And I'm fairly certain he wasn't responsible for killing my hero going into the third game. God knows what manner of strange exotic crotch fungus finally got to her, but she had accumulated more STDs by game's end than she did experience points. You should probably take that as a consequence of marrying a whore in a game where female-female pairings were the only couples which couldn't have protected sex.

They should really fix that in the next game.

Feed men, and then ask of them virtue!
