Demo/Full Game Question

I looked around, but I found no answer. Can people with the demo play Ad-Hoc with people that have the full game?

Apparently yes. The instruction manual mentions the main title menu SHOULD have an option called "Trial", where friends can get the trial version from your full version. This is not present in the non-japanese game, though.
