Please do not. They are perfect exactly as they are.

    ...

I actually have a new request in mind. I'll PM you after I get the resources. Don't worry, it's not WoW related this time.

I've been staring at the sketch at work (I tend to do that often. Is that weird?). It looks incredibly powerful. The solid shoulder pads, the bulky hilt, and the blazing sword all contribute a ton of strength. And while I thought this would make it look awkward, the girly pose actually makes it look like she's wearing the weight of her equipment effortlessly. Not like the weight isn't there, like it looks in the game. But that she's being weighed down heavily, and pushing back so efficiently that she can strike a pose while looking natural. All of it makes me get pumped at the idea of her slaying demons and commanding armies.

Haha! Sketching is what I am best at. Painting characters still give me a ton of problems. It's probably a difference in experience, since sketching is something I have done for around 10 years by now. Painting only the past 5 years or so and only since a year that I am painting properly.

And yet your backgrounds are the stuff of dreams.

That would explain why I like your sketches so much though. There are times when I look forward to them more than I do the painting itself.

That's because backgrounds don't require much precision. No one cares how that tree looks like, so I can go more on autopilot. To me, making backgrounds feels more like carving, then drawing.

for characters I always feel forced to make them look good an precise, which makes them more stiff. I notice when I make a drawing for myself, the characters tend to be less stiff

That's something I noticed here, that the sketch looked much more relaxed than the one in the painting.
So do you think they'd come out better if you sacrificed some detail?

Yeah, Well at least not force it. Also, I usually prefer to draw a character from the back when I put them in a background. Usually maken for better story telling to. It's just that my requesters probably wouldn't dig that

That would actually look pretty good... I'll have to think up some requests with that in mind.

Did you have any thoughts on this one? Anything you liked working with, or disliked working with? Anything that came out looking good, or bad? Anything that you had difficulty with, or had to make any compromises?
