Thread: Translation WIP

  1. #1

    Default Translation WIP

    I'm currently working on a PSP2i english translation patch for CFW users.

    This is the most we will get now that Sega dumped us with JP release only...
    I will take every help I can get to speed this project up though.

    // Screenshot Gallery

    Below you will find the latest, in work, translation tables...
    Should you know a better, more appropriate translation for one of the terms in those tables, please provide one.

    // Table #1 - "Character Creation"
    COMPLETED
    // Table #2 - "Basic Game Terms #1"
    http://pastebin.com/iczPJ9Qk
    // Table #3 - "Monster Names #1"
    COMPLETED
    // Table #4 - "Monster Names #2"
    COMPLETED
    // Table #5 - "Basic Game Terms #2"
    http://pastebin.com/zbNjNFtd
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...2c&output=html <-- Google Spreadsheet for Collaboration

    Searching for Hex-Dump-Table Analyzer!
    You think you are up to it?
    You know about memory layouts, little endian byte-order, can operate a hexadecimal calculator and got some brains / copy & paste abilities?
    Then drop me a message.
    Your help will help speed up this translation project tremendously.

    You mean someone actually is showing potential ability to do an actual patch? Interesting.

    That someone would be moi.
    The patch works via text-table exchange inside memory.
    It's a prototype as of now but works quite nicely so far from what you see.

    I would need further help in manually dumping the text-tables though, translating them and putting them back in.

    If you have actually made it that far into translating, then more power to you. I would also take a stroll to PSUpedia if you haven't already. A few of their members have some iso and memory knowledge, and one of their members is a prime translator of Japanese language. Also DeviFoxx above you is currently in the process of finishing a complete translation guide of the game. Good luck.

    I've heard patches, like the one your making, only works with CFW. It shows no use to those that dont run CFW.

    @Emp: I'm the author of PRO-Custom Firmware, and see absolutely no problem with people installing our CFW on their units.

    It's opensource, editable by anyone and best of all, to those that are paranoid, uninstallable again without a trace left on the unit.

    Also, our CFW supports all currently out OFW kernel, up to 6.60.
    Again, see no problem there.

    Anyway, I've dumped another string table...
    *refer to first post from now on*

    If someone that is capable of reading japanese could provide a proper translation of this file I would be very grateful.

    I merely do test-translations via Google Translator to test my code... however I would prefer to have this thing done properly.

    Looks good thus far.

    You're the author of PRO-CFW eh? Nice to meet you, sir. I'm DeviFoxx, the author of the Infinity Translation Guide.

    Are you asking for more accurate translations of your text dump, or ...

    Can you clarify a little bit further? Forgive my asking.

    Ah DeviFoxx. It's a pleasure myself to finally make your aquaintance.

    Your guide has been a big help to me already and was in fact the initial motivator for me to start my work on this patch.

    And yes of course, I'm not capable of reading, writing or speaking the japanese language so I use several OCR and translation tools + my brain to "imagine" the rest, however this isn't exactly what I'm after.

    If I do this, I want to do it properly, not half-assed.
    Would you mind lending me a helping hand?

    Sure, I don't mind helping out.
