    Post A guide to Support Partners

    ~What is a Support Partner?~
    Support partners are small AI-controlled versions of characters that can collect order drops for you.
    You can customize their class, playstyle, personality and gear, and they can accompany you in quests, just like friend partners.
    Unlike friend partners, they have much more HP and won't die easily. They also attack and use support spells more often.
    However, their actual dealt damage seems to be minimal.

    ~Requirements~
    At level 20, Koffie will give you a client order where you have to talk to the new (Arks Road) NPC Caseal named "Astarte".
    She is standing next to the center teleporter in the lobby. Interacting with her once after obtaining the order will automatically complete it.
    Return to Koffie and turn in the order when it's complete.

    ~Creation~
    You must now create your support partner at the makeover (este) counter.
    The makeover counter is on the second floor of the shop area, and is colored pink.
    It's the second option. A new window will appear with a create support partner slot.
    You will receive a warning before being transferred to character creation.

    - You can't delete or rename the support partner once it's created, but you can redo it for 500 AC.
    - You can have up to 3 support partners, at 300 AC per partner. Only the first one is free.
    - Support partner appearance works the same way as characters and requires AC for physical changes (proportion, size, etc).
    - Changing accessories, makeup, etc. are free.
    - Support partners are character-based (not account based).
    - Support partners have access to the accessories and hairstyles owned by the character you created the partner on.
    - You cannot use bought costumes/accessories/hairstyles during creation, but you can use them after.
    - There's an option to reset aspects of their personality and mood. It may affect their playstyle.
    - Support partners are miniaturized characters. They are meant to be small.
    - You can save/load character data, just like character creation.
    - You cannot access support partners from other characters on the same account.

    Keep in mind that your support partner can appear in E-Trials, so don't make anything that you don't want others to see.

    ~Setting up~
    Make sure you have completed Koffie's order and created your partner at the makeover counter.
    Koffie will have given you a support partner console room item for setting up your support partner.
    If for some reason you need more, the my room vendor (near the FUN shop/recycle vendors) also sells it.
    It takes up 3 room item points, and you can place it your new mini room that has a maximum of 5 room points. 2 points left over for a bed, or two chairs. Yay.

    Go to your new room and place the support partner console down.
    Interact with it, and you will be able to select and summon your support partner.
    The menu will then change, allowing you to setup and give orders to your support partner.

    Note that you can also access your support partner via the my room control panel on the wall.
    However, you cannot change their equipment there
    (confirmed by EldrickTobin, Teravisor, Jaerza and The_Brimada).

    Here is my quick translation of the main support partner menu (with some rewording from Ricardo's blog). The rest is pretty self-explanatory (eg. equipment type).
    Note that the menu changes when your support partner is away (there will be an option to call them back instead).

    探索指示を出す = Issue Search Orders
    パートナー情報を見る = See Partner Information
    装備をカスタムする = Customize Equipment
    話しをする = Chat
    席を外させる = Remove From Post (they leave the console, you can summon them back or select a different support partner if you have others)
    コンソール位置を移動させる = Move Console Position
    この場を離れる = Leave

    If anyone's curious, talking to a support partner with the starting personality results in them saying:
    "I am a support partner. Nothing makes me happier than being useful to my master."
    Note that talking to them once after each search report supposedly raises their favorableness level.

    You can also receive gifts from them by talking to them, just like with other NPCs.
    See the "Gifts" section below for further details.

    If your room is lagging like crazy, that's because the room server is being flooded with people trying out their support partners.

    For people with multiple characters on a single account:
    If you leave a support partner character at the console on one character and switch to another character, the support partner will stay there.
    You won't be able to get rid of them on other characters. You have to switch back to its owner and tell them to leave their post at the console.
    You can also remedy this by having multiple consoles, but free rooms only have enough points for a single console.

    If you use a my room ticket and summon your partner there, you will not be able to summon them from your mini-room after your room ticket runs out.
    (Questioned by D-Gold and confirmed by Z-0).
    However, you can still access them via the my room control panel on the wall (confirmed by EldrickTobin, Teravisor, Jaerza and The_Brimada).

    ~Equipment~
    You can customize their equipment and costume. They can also use weapon camos.
    You can change your support partner's costume at the makeover counter, as well as the room console.

    Support partners have no requirements for equipment. You can dump your best gear on them immediately.
    The official website says that their equipment is primarily for sake of appearance, and does not affect their ability.
    However, according to the JP wiki, depending on the rarity of the weapon and units equipped, support partner capability increases to some extent.
    Testing has proven that higher rarity clearly increases their HP (according to the JP wiki, and also tested by Kitoshi).
    Weapon affixes such as burn, poison, etc. can be used by support partners.

    Note that stats from the equipment don't matter, only the rarity affects their capabilities.
    For example, equipping the Elder unit set (0 SDEF) doesn't seem to result in them having poor SDEF.
    Instead, they will gain some HP (confirmed by Kitoshi).

    - Costumes and equipment that you want to give them must be in your inventory and unlocked.
    - Costumes and equipment that you give them will be removed from your inventory.
    - Unit stealth needs to be set before you give the unit to them. You cannot set stealth once they equip it.
    - Support partner autowords cannot be customized.

    - You can de-equip items by clicking "外す".
    - You can only give them one weapon. For example, if they are Ranger and you give them a Rifle, you cannot give them a Launcher and have them use both.
    - Rare gear given to support partners will not become bound to your character.

    ~Class~
    To change your support partner's class, simply give them a new main weapon. You will be asked to confirm a class change.
    You cannot give them weapons for classes that you haven't unlocked with your character.

    Weapons that do not require a class change will not change their class.
    For example, giving a Gunner a Rifle will not change them to Ranger.
    Gunslash and all-class weapons also will not change their class (thanks Solid_snark for info).

    They do not seem to use subclasses.

    ~Issuing orders~
    You can give support partners client orders that involve searching for items.
    This is also the only way for support partners to gain EXP and level up.
    They do not seem to level from assisting you in quests.

    You can send multiple support partners at the same time. (thanks Teravisor)

    Client orders also improve your favorableness with them, and they will be able to accept more orders (thanks FireswordRus).
    See the favorableness section for more info.

    Examples of orders that support partners can do:
    - Franca's and Kresshida's drop orders.
    - Echo's non-daily drop orders (confirmed by AFKei).
    - Xie's (old) event drop orders
    - Medical center drop orders
    - Koffie and Team orders cannot be given to your support partner.
    - It is likely they can only do orders with drops that are tradable.

    To give orders to your support partner, pick up the orders on your character and then go to the support partner console.
    Pick the first option at the main menu, and you can then select up to three orders for them to do.
    Each order takes one hour, for a total of three hours. Your partner will send you a mail when they are finished.

    You can check their remaining time at your my room terminal (the one on the wall) or the makeover counter.
    Select サポートパートナー and it will list your support partners and the time remaining.

    ~Completing orders~
    If your support partners succeed, you will get a random number of order items, and your support partner will gain EXP. If they fail, you get nothing, and they get nothing.
    The amount of items they obtain for each order can range from 0 to exceeding the amount required for the order..
    For example, if an order requires 2 items, they may bring back 4.
    On the other hand, if an order requires 99 items, they may bring back 1.

    Success rate is primarily determined by random number generation influenced by partner's level and order difficulty (thanks Ricardo).
    Rarity of equipped gear likely influences support partner's success.

    Tips:
    - It's fastest to give them a high EXP order every hour, instead of multiple orders at once (thanks Vyrielle)
    - The two best orders are Kresshida's favor order that gives 37k EXP and the Quartz Dragon fangs daily order that gives 39k EXP
    - Don't turn in orders on your character, so that you can keep on giving them to your support partner
    - They rarely fail regular enemy orders, regardless of order level or area (eg. sending a level 20 partner to do Sanctum orders seems to work)
    - However, it's completely possible for them to randomly fail at orders that they've already succeeded many times at
    - Big boss orders tend to fail, especially if your partner isn't a high level (eg. Vol Dragon, Fang Banther, Snow Banther, Gwanada, Quartz Dragon)
    - Mini boss orders seem to succeed more easily (eg. Rockbear, Caterdransa?)

    You can tell the support partner to come back early, but it will result in no drops and no EXP.
    Orders remain in your order list after giving them, but you can freely drop the orders while your support partner is searching.

    Support partners cannot level higher than their master's highest level (thanks Vyrielle).

    ~Ranking~
    Rank is based on the total success of each order given.
    Obtaining even a single item for an order is considered a success.

    One order given:
    1 success: S rank
    All fail: C rank

    Three orders given:
    3 success: S rank
    2 success: A rank
    1 success: B rank
    All fail: C rank

    Four orders given:
    4 success: S rank
    2-3 success: A rank
    1 success: B rank
    All fail: C rank

    Five orders given:
    4-5 success: S rank
    2 - 3 success: A rank?
    1 success: B rank?
    All fail: C rank

    Six orders given:
    5-6 success: S rank
    3-4 success: A rank?
    2 success: B rank?
    1 success: C rank
    All fail: C rank

    Seven orders given:
    6-7 success: S rank?
    4-5 success: A rank
    2-3 success: B rank

    Eight orders given:
    7-8 success: S rank
    6 success: A rank
    3 success: B rank

    Nine orders given:
    8-9 success: S rank
    7 success: A rank

    Ten orders given:
    8-10 success: S rank
    7 success: A rank
    4 success: B rank

    ~Experience~ (originally translated by Vyrielle, thanks)
    If the order has a specified number of items, it will give the order's EXP reward value multiplied by rank modifier.
    If the order has no specified number of items (eg. daily orders with up to 99 items), it will give EXP reward value per item, multiplied by 1.5.

    Rank modifiers:
    - S: 15%
    - A: 12.5%
    - B: 10%
    - C: 0

    EXP gained will use the maximum value for the order, regardless of your level when you give the order.
    For example, if an order gives 15444 EXP at level 46 but 16200 at most, the reward will use the maximum value of 16200 EXP.

    Example A:
    You give 3 orders with EXP rewards of 37000, 15000 and 12000 = 64000 total.
    Your support partner returns in 3 hours and succeeds at all three.
    64000 x 15% (.15) = support partner receives 9600 EXP.

    Example B: (tested and confirmed once)
    You give 3 orders with EXP rewards of 6000, 5200 and 2000 = 13200 total.
    Your support partner returns in 3 hours and succeeds at 6000, but fails at 5200 and 2000 = 6000 total.
    Because they only succeeded at one out of three, their rank is B.
    6000 x 10% (.10) = support partner receives 600 EXP.

    ~Partying~
    Your support partner can be invited to your party, just like friend partners.
    Simply go to the same camp ship friend partner menu, and change the tab to support partner tab, then select them.

    - Support partners take up a party slot, just like friend partners or other players.
    - Support partners have a chance to appear in E-Trials (regardless of level), requesting help from players.
    - You cannot summon support partners from other characters on the same account.
    - You can summon support partners for quests while they are out searching.

    ~Favorableness/Affection/Relationship~
    The level of favorableness (aka affection or relationship) towards you is raised via a number of factors:
    - Sending your support partner on searches raises their level of favorableness.
    - Only after a set number of searches will your support partner reach second level.
    - Once they reach second level, bringing your friend partner on quests also increases favorableness (thanks IndigoNovember for info).
    - The frequency of clearing quests with your partner is what matters, not how much time they spend questing with you.
    - Favorableness rank can increase while they are on searches.

    The amount of increased favorableness after each order result is also influenced by many factors:
    - Both rank and number of successes are important.
    - It is more efficient and effective to spam a single order with high EXP.
    - However, the exact difference between single orders and multiple orders per search is currently unknown.
    - Talking to them once after each search report apparently raises their favorableness slightly.
    - After a recent update, clearing E-Trials where you save your support partner will now raise their favorableness.

    To increase favorableness quickly, take them on as many quests as possible, and give them Kresshida's 37k EXP order every hour, and try to achieve S rank in both.

    The easiest way to check the current level is at the my room console (on the wall) or makeover counter listing of your character.
    There will be a colored face icon next to your character's name that symbolizes the level of favorableness, just like with other NPCs.

    There are currently 5 known levels of favorableness (好感度).
    The higher the level, the more orders they can accept at once.
    緊張 = Nervous, 3 orders (color: cyan)
    信用 = Confident, 4 orders (color: green)
    信頼 = Trusted, 6 orders (color: yellow)
    好意 = Fond, 8 orders (color: orange)
    親愛 = Beloved, 10 orders (color: red)

    ~Gifts~
    Support partners can give you items if you talk to them.
    The exact conditions for receiving gifts are currently unknown.
    It is assumed your favorableness needs to be at a certain level.
    It also seems that they only give you a specified set of items, just like NPCs.

    Currently known gifts:
    Food Mini/Dexterity (Ability)
    Food Mini/Physical Attack
    Rare Drop +50%
    Food Mini/Ranged Attack
    Food Mini/Tech Attack
    EXP +50%
    Tri-boost +50%

    ~Personality~
    Once your support partner reaches favorableness of "信頼", you will be able to select their personality after they report on their last search.
    From that point onwards, they will only randomly ask you for a personality change (thanks FireswordRus for info).

    Their dialogue and playstyle/movelist also changes based on their personality and favorableness. For a list of the playstyle/movelist, check that section below.
    Here is a list of the personality options:

    Male:
    今のままでいい = Stay as you are
    無垢 = Pure
    気弱 = Timid
    わんぱく = Naughty
    クール = Cool
    爽やか = Invigorating

    Female:
    今のままでいい = Stay as you are
    無垢 = Pure
    おっとり = Gentle
    無邪気 = Innocent
    不器用 = Clumsy
    ボーイッシュ = Boyish

    You can reset their personality/mood at the makeover (este) counter.
    There's an image at Ricardo's blog depicting the menu option for doing so.
    Be careful not to do it by accident, because you'll probably have to level it all over again.

    Note that each personality also has a "special correction" ability, just like Friend Partners.
    Here is a list of currently known "special correction" abilities:

    Pure (Common): Self-resurrection
    Timid: ??
    Naughty: ??
    Cool: ??
    Invigorating: Thorough defense
    Gentle: Thorough defense
    Innocent: Coordination master

    That concludes my not-so-quick guide. I know I'm being vague with the menus, but I think it should be fairly obvious what each option does.
    There may also be incorrect information, so if I've made a mistake please correct me.
    I'll try to update with new information as it comes.

    Is there anywhere that gives a translation for the menu when dealing with your partner character in your room?

    Can you remove the partnerconsole after creating the partnercharacter? So that you can place other items and not have it take most of your points.

    Are collection orders the only way for support partners to get exp?

    Some early observations:
    Collection quests seem to be the only way to gain XP for your support partner.
    Team orders are not allowed.
    You can change the class for your support partner by giving it a different class' weapon.
    All-class weapons will not change your support partner's class.
    The bullet bow that everyone was given is an all class weapon.
    All weapons and armor put on the support partner seem to be for aesthetics only.

    I sent my support partner out for a mission that required hard level drops, and she came back with a C-rank and no items. Trying a normal level (caves) mission now to see if I have any better success. Will report back when she returns...

    Though man in light of this information I must comment that this.... damn.

    Never have I wished more that accessories / hairstyles / head parts were account based.

    If for example I want to make a Male Cast Support on my Male Human I have no head parts unlocked but meanwhile my Character Male Cast's unlocked stuff doesn't help.

    I don't see why not, but then you won't be able to use your support partner.

    OK. Dark Snark just got back. I sent her out of a caves mission as a lv1 and she came back with an S-Rank and enough XP to get to level 4. However, she only got one of the 30 drops needed for the daily quest, so I'm sending her out to do it again. More as I figure things out...
