what are the exact mechanics of Spread Needles Pot? im a bit unclear on what does and doesnt trigger an extra attack,esspecially with a weapon camo hidng the shots and whatnot,as well as its "within a certain range"

You get the spread attack when you use a normal attack, a dive roll attack, or a special bullet shot (Weak and Bind), but not to any PA. Essentially, Spread Needle is more of a mid- to close-range weapon, and since the spread attack goes out from a single point into a wide spread, it does good single-target zero-range damage.Lemme explain this with a picture.
You're really better off just investing in a Atra Rifle, the S4 makes standing snipe a lot more reliable while the Needle will just give you headache, especially in EQ's like Dragon where you constantly need to Reposition yourself and being as far as possible is more beneficial than being just the right distance for 2 abilities to proc.
Gunner doesn't have to deal with stuff like SS (not even Gu/Ra) so the Needle is much better on that Class.
