I would say it depends on whether or not you have a full Ring set-up that you want to use. If you do, sell the Austere, but if you don't, then it will probably benefit you more to keep them.

I already have a +20 Jet Boots TA Short Charge that I was planning on affixing to the Ray Leg, and I was only planning on getting Air Reversal and Step Jump for the rest of the Ray Set. Barring the time spent to farm the materials for the extra Rings, I pretty much have the Ring set completed.

What's the most "cost effective" way to affix Magi the Soul, Tech IV, Stam IV, Spirita IV, Noble Tech on a unit?

Depends on the unit. If you have the unit you want in several examples, you can create three fodders and get the special affix boost.
If you can't because the unit is too rare, you may want to upslot to 5 slots with random crap then buy (or create) 5 slots fodders.
One of those fodders has to have a "main area boss" soul like quartz soul, and then mutation 2, tech 3, spirita 3 and stamina 3.
Another one has to have Touou or Ful Vegas soul and tech 3, stamina 3, spirita 3 (and a random in slot 5)
The last fodder with stamina 3, spirita 3, tech 3 and more random stuff in slots 4 and 5.
Buy or get a special item to slap Noble tech. (and a transfer +40%)
That way you will be able to get all the stuff you want with only 3 fodders.

is anyone else meeting difficulty in simultaneously changing left and right rings with one chat box? my formerly working chat now switches the left, but declares the name of the right ring in area chat.

With the most recent update you may no longer put 2 ring switches on the same shortcut words. This also applies to camos.

Did they change Varda Sohma's hitboxes? I was hitting it with Zonde and wasn't taking damage, but the other techniques worked as usual

First, the recipe you mention should only require an ability +30% boost, not +40%.

Second, the difference in Dudu fees between using 3 fodders and using 4 fodders is only 100K (assuming the target unit is 11* or 12*, it costs even less if the target is of lower rarity). So I am certain you can simplify intermediate steps and reduce the overall cost (in meseta and cubes) if you use four fodders instead of three.

For example, use fodders:
1. "Main area boss" soul, Tech 3, Stamina 3, Spirita 3, junk
2. Tech 3, Stamina 3, Spirita 3, junk, junk
3. Tech 3, Stamina 3, Spirita 3, junk, junk
4. Escarde/To'oh/Full Vegas Soul, Mutation II, junk, junk, junk

This avoids the pain of stacking an earth soul or Mutation II onto the same fodder with Tech 3, Stamina 3, and Spirita 3.

True, I didn't consider that after all, the increase in affixing fees would be negligible in regards to actually getting those kind of fodders.
