I was hoping they'd be useful again someday, but I don't see that happening anymore.

if you want a happy compromise of mitigating their collective impact on shared storage (we need moar storage, sega!!!! and not rental. and not whale bait) and the piece of mind of knowing they aren't actually gone (your future self may well thank you!), you can put them in one of your character's personal storage. just remember which character has what. i think arredoval has made a really nice spread sheet for cases such as this.

If you have candy/food from previous EQs, they usually expire after the EQ period is over. If it has a red date on it, you can toss it. The other items, I can't say for sure, although Sega seems to create new versions of items every year as opposed to reusing old ones.

No has to be the same weapon to raise grind cap or have that BS rare item from PvP. The most that combo will do is just grind the weapon.
