A way to prove yourself

I was wondering if any1 has heard if there is a VS mode where people playing PSO would fight each other?

There is a vs. mode for PSO but Sonic Team has yet to realease, much to my liking. How does beating the snot out of other people "prove" anything in a co-op game like PSO? That's what Unreal Tournament and other FPS's are for. If you really want to prove something see how good of a team player you are.
