    Default About buying mags

I know you buy mags at the shop in the sewer, and that the shop appears to have mags of different colors from time to time, but is there a way to tell the color of the mag in stock before buying?

Nope. Gotta do the luck of the draw, or save, buy, check, then reset and try again if thewy aren't the right color.

Just know that, when you open the shop's menu, the Mags will not change colors no matter how many you buy, until you exit the shop and talk to her again, so if you're looking for a specific Nature on a specific color, buy as many mags as you can, then check colours, before resetting.

What exactly is a mag's nature? I am unfamiliar with this.

If you played the original Phantasy Star Online, you'd know that MAGs were much more complex in terms of stats, what to feed, how to raise them and such. One thing that was critical was that a fully-grown MAG (and some lower ones, iirc) could give you special bonuses randomly, with things like healing you if your HP got low randomly, or buffing you with a powerful Shifta/Deband when your PB gauge filled up to 100, or gave you temporary invulnerability when a boss battle starts.

Well, Natures are what determines what benefits a MAG in Phantasy Star Zero does for you. You can find a comprehensive list of Natures and their effects here:

Also, it should be noted that the general consensus for MAGs in PSZ that the best Natures to shoot for are either Fickle or Ruffian; Fickle for general use, and Ruffian is you're a CAST, for that potential big Shifta damage bonus that you can't get otherwise offline without relying on the horribly stupid NPC ally AI to cast it on you themselves.
