Help me make my shop (ZipzoJapan) great!

Hey guys, I wanted to sort of enlist the help of this community to help me make my upcoming merchandise shop amazing. I've built the foundation of the shop purely based on my own aspirations and visions, but I'd like to get some third party criticisms on the record.

I live in Japan and the goal here is basically to provide products for people not in Japan. Quite simple, but not necessarily so considering other sites do this on a very large scale (like play-asia for example). I am attempting to grab my share of interest by offering an organically growing shop that is catered to my shopper's tastes, so I've created a "request-based system" that basically allows people to contact me through various forms and tell me what they'd like to see on the shop. The more requests I get, the more stuff I get to add, and folks get a discount on their requests.

This shop is not public yet, it is locked by a PW and transactions cannot go through, so while you could definitely consider this as generating interest I'm truly not intending this to be a shameless advert, I really am looking for outside opinions.


Take a look around and tell me what you think! Just looking for criticisms and your thoughts. There is an 18+ section that has adult content but I have hidden that category for now so that anyone is welcome to visit and help me with ideas. I want this shop to sort of be...for the people...by the people, if you know what I mean. So give me a hand if you have a moment to offer a little gem or two.

Important to note : For now it's consisting mostly of Phantasy Star stuff and the amount of items in the shop is bare bones, but I intend to cover basically...everything. I'm not just limiting myself to any particular franchise. I want to be a solid source for anything Japanese.

I think the only thing that would make people prefer your shop over the others would be lower prices, but I don't know if that's affordable for you.

The only other thing I could think of would be you having a face here on PSOW (it's nice to know different ways to contact you) but I'm sure you don't want your customers to be only PSOW dwellers.

How is the request system supposed to work? Do you only get a discount if multiple users request a product after you have requested it first?

What are the payment options? I see Paypal at the bottom of the site, but I assume people want more than just that.

WebMoney is there, but I'm afraid most will probably avoid those deals in favor of es, and that's totaly understandable, nonetheless it's there to be an option.

The 18+ content consists of Doujinshi, anime-related erotic toys, and...just other stuff you might see walking in to a J-Porn shop here in Japan.

Hmmm, I hadn't thought about if multiple users request something at the very exact same time but the intended plan was to give a discount to the person who requested an item on that particular item (because I assume they requested because they wanted to buy it).

That's a good point on the payment options, the website accepts credit card directly like most shopping sites, but paypal is there for people who want to use it. You think I should clarify this?

This is what I was referring to.
It sounds like you'll only get a discount if other people like the product you requested. Which makes no sense because the one requesting a product will most likely be the (or one of the) first to purchase it.


About the payment options...
Maybe you could put a information box with all the payment options included somewhere in the "home" section?
I think people are more likely to buy from your shop if all the information they need is presented to them at the beginning.
Naturally, you need to keep the page from becoming a convoluted clusterfuck of text madness.
