Friend cant get into their account.

I have a friend who recently got a new PC and now the game is asking them for a code to verify the new machine. The only problem is they aren't receiving the code. I don't know all the details, whether they are even checking the correct email that's associated with their Sega ID or not but they are not getting the code. I tried helping in any way i could think of but the end result was to have them change the email tied to the Sega ID. Now they are telling me apparently to change the email you need to contact Sega support now? If that's true then they probably wont ever be able to recover their account but as a last resort I wanted to post here and ask if anyone might know something else to try? Any help is very much appreciated.
