I'm surprised Oracle!Margaretha didn't appear in the cutscene before the OF Apprentice battle.
This question sorta dates back to phantasy star games from the 80s/90s, but what was the major distinction between techs and actual magic back then? Was it explained much differently here in pso2 ep5?
In the classic series, Magic could only be cast by those who genetically inherited the ability to use it; Techs were developed by Lutz as a more generalized style of Magic that could be used by those without that genetic affinity. Essentially, Magic was a natural ability while Techs were a learned skill.

Sort of like the difference between a Sorcerer and a Wizard; Sorcerer casts spells because he can, Wizard casts spells because he learned to.
From what I was told Techs were also weaker.
Turns out that eating Dark Falzes is not good for Player-chan's diet.
After the really entertaining Epic chapter, this was a pile of poop.
Boring and overly labored. I felt more emotion from running Apprentice EQ before the story quests themselves.
On one hand no surprise since Double was the worst part of ep 3 too, on the other I was hoping ep 5's story would be picking up now. I guess the previous chapter was just a one off exception and now we're back to business as (disappointingly) usual.
While this was a bit boring. I kinda want to know at least doubles history. And I assume clarris has some connection to xion
I find this Es Ars Chapter pretty good tbh after the fun ride in Epic Chapter. This EP is pretty dark, it's reminisce of an almost entire Kuronian getting wiped out by Double plus with his/her origin. Kinda enjoy the atmosphere of this EP5 better than what EP4 could give, despite the bad start.
