He definitely can. My cue for switching off of TMG when running as hero is literally when my regular shots get blocked.

Edit: Dash/step attacks are in a separate category of regular attack so it blocking your regular attack still means you can hurt it with step attacks.

it's a rear unit that randomly drops at any depth, so pure RNG to get that, i got mine at depth 105 lol
