Card evolution/change ?

... huh ?!
A while back, I got a Cane item and it tried to change. Said something about card change failed, and then I got a cane.
Today, I got a Shot, and It changed into a Bullet Storm.
o_O Weird ...

Card evolutions are natural, but uncommon. It's a pretty low chance (between 1 and 2%). However, the odds of a card evolving into something of a higher rank (ie. N4 to an N3) change depending on how many of the card you have collected.
