Having now bathed in my AOL free existance for a few months, I thought I'd try and get on #psow chat but to no avail. It loads for a good 2 minutes, then just leaves me with a x.
I've downloaded mIRC and still haven't had any luck.
I've read past topics on the subject but have found nothing that helps me.
Am I missing something? What do I need to do/know?

If you have a firewall active, try disabling it. Also, make sure you use a browser other than AOL's own browser - go for Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.
Another possible explanation is that you don't have Java installed on your computer. Go to Java.com and download the console application to run the Java Chat.
Another problem might be ban sets. My own ISP is banned from all EFnet servers except four. Since you're on AOL, chances are you're in a worse state than me. Just tell mIRC to attempt connection 99 times and move to the next server on each attempt. It'll eventually find one that works.

What I meant was I'm no longer with AOL, As I knew it was pretty much a no go.
I use the Mozilla Firefox and I defenitely have the Java console application installed.
I've turned both my Firewall off and temporarilly changed my Internet Security level setting to low and still no avail.
I'm gonna keep trying and thanks for the help so far, but any more tips?
