a little help with MIll Lilys

okay i have been through the caves on legendary now on the quest "Addicting Food" 3 times now and have used the telipipe trick over several hundred and found 6 mil lilys ,2 escaped me,and the other 4 i killed but none of them dropped the rare weapon Sange (a katana)the ratio for this item is 1/2 from a Mill lily(i am a skyly)....now the question is am i just unlucky or must i kill the lilys before they kill themselves((d@$$ self destrutiing over grown potery PLANTS))or does it even matter if they kill themselves before i do?
