"Edit your info" changes will not apply

As topic, specifically any changes above the first Save Changes button are not saved when it's used. So I can't change my avatar, sig or IM details.

Viewing the page with Opera 7.50 results in the following lines at the top of the "Edit your info" page:

You need to get rid of all apostrophes in your profile.

"England's green and pleasent land." would seem to be your source of error.

An alternative to getting rid of the apostrophe would be to type in the following:

"England's green and pleasent land."

The backward slash will be removed as soon as you hit the "update" or "save" button(s) (too lazy to check), while at the same time, any changes you make to other parts of your profile WILL be updated and you'll get to keep your apostrophe too. Go ahead and try it out and tell us if that doesn't work. Hope that helps.

No, not a space.

He said it right, just when you do it a post it processes the backslash into the php code, and removes it, unless you put a backslash in front of said backslash.
