Thats a pretty common problem with the winsock. It also happens every once in a while after running spyware programs. I actually have a fix uploaded to some webspace which you can find here: WinsockXPFix
This is a Win XP machine right? If not let me know and I'll have you do something else.

Thanks violet that hit the spot just right.
saved me alot of troubledidnt have to reference this stupid book or go throgh the hassle of locating the solution using the company diagnostics software.
Glad that did the trick (it usually does lol.)
