So if it's like some little person, maybe it builds them? (but of course it would never show you a building animation) Mags evolved (they said) through the use of D-cells, which actually 'grew' the metal into different formations, exposing different parts of that glowing photon core thing.
The great thing about PSU is that maybe we will get an actual explanation of this through story mode!
