After numerous synthesis attempts, three tries on a busterline shield and twice on a Calibur sword, i'm left pretty damn unhappy(meaning, it didn't work). can anyone tell me, am i just unlucky?

A little unlucky, yes. Just means you need to raise your PM a little bit more too.
Seriously, i was ready to throw my xbox out the window after that fifth try. i was successful in making a claymore, but thats more or less the extent of my synthesis. with of course lame exceptions of those 100% ones.
Think thats bad I just failed a knife synth at 92% success rate U___u;;;
*throws new PM out ships airlock*

You know what sucks? Having an 82% success rate for a light saber, and getting a MONOMATE! At least me fail with my dignity, you stupid PM! >.<
