I really hope there's a way to get both buff casting and mechguns on the same character. I miss my AT/mechgun Fomar from PSU/PSO, respectively.

If you can cast at all with that class, you'll be able to cast with any weapon equipped I would bet. You won't do the animation with it out and it'll be on your subpalette, but I don't think you'll mind that.

If they add sub classes then you should be able too. Considering you can equip a soul eater on a FO and still cast the buffs from your shortcut bar no problem.

like, you can deattach and attach the double sabers so it varies between a doublesaber or twin saber (both hands)

they may do that...seeing the double saber in the picture sorta seemed to be deattached

but then if this is done...I fear about the efficiency of each mode...usually when a weapon has two modes, each mode tends to be sorta weak to compensate for the versatility. Besides...the deattached DoubleSabers don't seem they look like twin swords/sabers from PSO at all...I miss my dual handed katanas ;_;

I'm just gonna hold out for mechgunrods, personally. I want a giant cross-shaped rod with a built-in machine gun.
