pso aoti pc offline

so lately I have been wanting to play pso /psu and I had my old aoti disk from when servers where still online I never played offline I was always under the assumption that u had to complete this shity story mode to open up extra mode and be able to play like u did online with ur own character..... so I installed the game tonight and to my surprise I was able to create my own cherecter in story mode and I ran fight for food c withot doing one story mission it looked just like online mode did back in the day just by myself so can someone please explain to me how offline mode realy works in this game??? am I rly able to play just like online mode by myself and I have been able to for years and just never tried it lol I am feeling like an idiot lol

AOTI's story mode is played with a user-created character. As far as I remember, some free missions are unlocked right away, and others are unlocked the more you progress through the story. The story missions themselves were available online back in the day.
