I have a similar problem, however I'm running windows7 and the problem is that, my loading just never finishes, so i've never actually gotten the chance to try out the game. It's not just that it has a LONG load, it has a PERMA load.

If anyone has any ideas please feel free to suggest them to me.

A list of things I've tried:

Firewall, antivirus (haven't uninstalled though)
Went into modem to enable UPnP

that's about it.

The gameguard not working was total a compiling issue and sega not bundling the right gameguard kernal for win 8.

what i meant by loading was after character selection, the same load the OP was talking about

Edit - Finally got it working in one last ditch effort. I stopped every anti virus related thing I had running. Avast, windows firewall, windows defender, advanced systemcare 5, IObit Malware Fighter. Yes, a bit of an overkill. But after doing this I deleted the gameguard folder, ran a file check, closed the launcher and then ran it as normal and it worked. If I had to guess which thing was conflicting with it I'd have to say it would be Avast. It likely automatically updated itself and caused the issue. Which is why it seemed to just happen one day on its own.

Can you tell me about the solution that you have made?
I have the same problem (maybe).
its shown right after clicking "start game", and goes the nProtect GameGuard..the black screen shows up and the error popped up on screen. after that its Exiting.

In my case i can't even start up the game.
It just makes an error like this: Can not access the specified device, path or file get.
You may not have permission to access the item

Find PSO2.exe and set it to inherit permissions again.

I tried doing that but it still doesn't work.
Maybe i should show you the error.
Though it's in dutch, i translated it before.
But this is my Error.
