Not sure how plausible this may be,

But how about: Using 1 as is, but have a mouse-over/balloon tip thing as you hover over the item with the mouse and show the tables as in #2?

....probably just sounds like a #2 version 2. I like 2 (Cuz I can just control+F)
Plus #2 would allow anyone to sort by name, stat or w/e. (If you put that sort feature in)

That looks awesome. Too bad I don't think there's a way to keep the expand/shorten link in the same spot for easy closing/opening.
