Default can you do a local server for PSU?

Debating on getting PSU for the PC and playing through it with a friend however I know the official servers are down but is it possible to put up my own sever to which my friend can connect to or use something like hamachi and set up a faux lan server? I'd really would not like to use a private server if at all possible.

I sincerely doubt it's possible to host a LAN server without dedicated server software - and the only way to obtain any will either be contacting Sega to see if they're willing to part with their code, or waiting for the private server(s) to become publicly distributed as some PSO server software was.

Naturally I don't believe either is remotely likely in the near future.

Iv never played PSU before so I had no idea how the online worked. Thanks for the reply.
