Thread: Random Crashes

    Default Random Crashes

Just as the title says, PSO2 will randomly crash, giving me the generic windows "Program has stopped responding/crashed" message. Again, no pattern, just happens at random, but almost always at least once a day. Any ideas on what it might be? Ticks me off when it happens in general, but especially when it happens during and EQ.

I asked in the Quick Questions thread, but what are your specs, and what OS are you using?

Wasn't sure if I should move the topic. Also...

"Yah... you're talking to a guy who doesn't know how to find his "specs". I'm using Windows 7 64-bit, 6GB RAM, but that's all I know.

Also I've met others in-game that have the same issue."

Running dxdiag (just type that in the Start menu and press Enter), saving all information to a text file and then pasting it here seems to be the quickest way to go about that.

Check the event log and see what's causing the crash.
If you don't know how to get to the event log, follow this guide
    http://www.cyberlink.com/support/faq...nt.do?id=10449

You can the log for pso2.exe
And get a screenshot of the event log for other to see.

But the basic thing, do a file check, update window to the latest version, including all drivers of hardware, turn off unnecessary program, defreagment your HDD, and clean up your registry with CCcleaner, etc.

There's no real need to paste it all, since I'm pretty sure that sound devices and everything after them can't be related to those crashes (though I guess that faulty drivers can, but it's also unlikely). Just paste System Information - Display Devices sections.

Hmm...so it's not Gameguard it seems like, it can be one of thse problem then.

    1.System file corruption.
    2. Faulting hardware.
    3. An underlying driver problem conflicting with the system.

For System file, you can either reinstall window, or run a SFC /scannow
    Follow this instruction
    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...e-checker.html

Also, do a memtest, to see if it's the ram
    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...memtest86.html

Install and run CCleaner and clean up the registry
    http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner

    Defraggler and defrag your Hardrive
    http://filehippo.com/download_defraggler

Also update windows to the latest version.

    2. Hardware, noting much we can do, but unplug unnecessary hardware, and turn off antivirus and other unused program.

    3. Driverwise
Use the free Slimdrivers and update driver ot the latest one
    http://download.cnet.com/SlimDrivers...html?part=dl-0
