I don't think the servers are being hosted by Gamespy, I think they're being hosted by Sony on PSN since you need a PSN login in order to login to the online part of the game.

Not sure why, it's probably only rainbow names and fake Lv200s now...with no further titles coming and PS0 being the only other thing, the franchise is effectively all but six feet under in the West.
That's why I look for successors which lead me to Saints Row 2 3 and 4, Ragnarok Odyssey Ace and Monster Hunter and Mass Effect.
