Coming from the 90's which wasn't a bad decade, I agree that technology has advance too fast for most humans to adapt with. I cannot find one kid by him/herself that can avoid using Iphones, laptops, etc. in just about every situation in their daily life (except when it is needed, ex: call home, etc.)

I feel like schools these days are just catering students to failure in college/life unless the student pushes him/herself. I mean look at it, I've seen a kid from my younger brother's class got to high school and is on the grade-list. Schools are just letting kids go through the grades(or advance through whatever school system you are in) regardless of the grade.

The internet has helped us know and see almost everything.

Almost. As sickening as some things seem, we probably still don't even know the half of it. It's always been this way though. Of course, a larger population is going to amplify it as well.

But nobody remembers it, so we don't know that for sure.

I do always wonder why people can't be more honest...
Things I have to deal with regularly, like people gossiping behind a friend's back and saying how they annoy them without ever letting that friend know which eventually just breaks them apart due to their lack of honest communication.

There's also the whole fishing for compliments thing I always see, where someone(usually a girl) will do something like, ask if they're fat or say they're ugly in attempt to get flooded with sympathetic compliments. Even if you tell them you know they're faking it, they may continue doing it to other people, who easily fall into their trap.

I feel like we're just raised to be that way, though, so in a way it's the fault of society that is always brainwashing us to "be nice", but not specifying that being honest(on negative subjects) isn't always intending to be mean, and would actually help the other person more than hurt them.

Things like this, well they are petty compared to some of the things in ancient times that people do... but still makes you wonder when or if society would we ever evolve out of this way of thinking. At the same time, it may be impossible because well, humans are imperfect and people in power are imperfect... subtle mental illnesses probably exist in everyone to some degree. I actually did read something saying that certain kinds may have actually been evolutionary advantages, which makes sense since a lot of the world's geniuses do have some sort of disability/mental disorder. It's pretty hard to deal with though, and some people in power change for the worse.

I just wanted to add after reading all of these posts is that, over the years, I've noticed how people have become REALLY sensitive over the years; yes, it has become quite difficult to be honest with people without them taking offense (or be defensive); honesty used to be a virtue, but now we have to tell-big-white-lies all the time to make others feel better about themselves. I suspect it really is a self-esteem issue that stems from bad parenting. I think the internet/technology has made all of our lives so much easier that this generation of parents have forgotten the value of hard-work/effort/responsibility and therefore do not instill these values into their children.

And also it seems like a lot of people are just "lost" and are just "living" not knowing what to do particularly with themselves and what not; the end result is usually self-immersion into drugs, video games, porn, violence, etc. It's like peoples' lives don't really have any meaning anymore so they try to fabricate one by trying to "prove" how cool, talented, smart, they are to everyone else, but MOST IMPORTANTLY to themselves... as in to justify that their existence is worthwhile.

It really is a sad sight. I feel sorry for them more than anything. I'm not even angry... just shaking my head.
