Well, I've been wondering: Is there a D&D game for the pc that basically just mimics the real board game?
I ask this becuase I've always been somewhat interested in D&D, but I know I just don't have the time and patients for a real, physical board game. But, also, I tried a free trial for that MMO, whatever exactly it was called... and... well... I won't go there...

I just don't need big fancy graphics, just a virtual board, all the needed statistics, and virtual dice.
Is there anything like this out there? I'm not sure if its possible to play alone, but offline is preferred so I don't have to deal with people...

There is an online dungeons and dragons game out for the pc. Its called Dungeons and dragons: Storm Reach. The rolling on it however is completely autonomous as most you basically fire spells and hit with your wep- the computer does the maths. Although ive never played the D+D 'board' game thats out, i cant say i was a lover of the online game. To me it had awful graphics, a community that was ignorant and it just threw you into the game without really helping you find quests. hence why i havnt played it since the day i got it. If your a massive fan of D+D then you might want to give this game a miss as it ruins d+d's reputation, but hey thats just my view on it.

Edit: And like omg i just realised u already mentioned the MMO heh, sorry for not being much help

If you are looking for a PC game follows all the rule and even uses virtual dice, then any of the Infinity Engine PC games will good choices, along with Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2 as well as the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (which follow the same rule set).

Infinity Engine games are: Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale II, and Planescape: Torment.

All of them are great, but note that Icewind Dale II is only one of these games that uses the newer rules. The other use the second edition rules.

Is it sad I know this yet never played the actual D&D pen and paper game.

AFTER DOING SOME OF MY OWN SEARCHING, I HAVE RESULTS!

Fantasy grounds is definitely the best, but if you want it legally you'll have to pay for it.
Illegally, on the other hand... (hint hint: PM me).

There is that one...but I never really was ever able to get into it. And I found myself prefering Baldur's Gate and NWN style more.
