It's true, we have a lot of bad forces around but the same holds true for all classes.

How about the Fortegunner/Figunner/Guntecher that refuses to use virus/burn traps? Those traps help a lot in S/S2 missions and can make a Lab S2 run take 7 mins instead of 15. Actually the majority of 'em don't bother with traps at all, so following the "no-support forces sucks" logic they must all suck. And don't give me the "they cost a lot of money" crap as you get 18k for a Lab S2 run.

How about the "support" Guntecher waving his crappy twin handguns around when he could be dealing MAJOR damage with a proper leveled crossbow bullet?

How about the Figunner that refuses to use anything but double sabers?

How about EVERY non-force that insists in storming charging enemies (i.e. Badira, Ageeta, Distova, et cetera) spawn points only to have 'em spread all around the place? A single force with Dam-Barta can take care of those spawns in 5 seconds instead of 30 seconds it take to chase the enemies around when the stupid non-force charges the room and triggers the spawn.

How about the Hunter-type classes that just LOVE to spam PAs and send enemies flying all over the place? Like it or not, unless you have +38% weapons you are not going to kill a tightly packed group of enemies faster than a force or ranger (with crossbow) in most of the situations. Don't get me wrong, the knockback is very usefull but when overused it just slows everyone down. Yeah, the knockback spammers against small/medium enemies surely suck!

How about just about everyone that insists in leveling they PAs in groups? You know the type: that gunner with ice crossbow bullets 11- in Neudaiz or that force spamming megid in HIVE. Yep, they suck too.

Do you want to badmouth the force spamming attack techs? Go ahead, just make sure you are doing YOUR job right.

Also lmfao at "you must use traps." I use em cause they are fun, but I still get the distinct feeling that my SE4 fire or virus could save me a fuckton of money and stick to the enemy in just as much time as it takes me to run up to something and set the trap.

OP, you're a real sweetie, don't ever lose your charm k.

Agreed. Considering the proc rate of lvl 30 rifle bullets, traps really dont cut it on anything but enemies that are immune to everything BUT traps.

A more important question to fortegunners might be, are you using your weapons more for SE than damage? I feel that there is a time and place for either strategy.

Switch to damage output when there arent many players in your party.

But with a healthy party, switch to the role we do best, support through SE's.

Trap usage is tricky, there is no point in using a virus trap if your party is full of bruisers and everything is dying in 5 seconds anyway. The last four Jarbas and Palovoras in S2 labs are ripe for traps but the rest of the map doesn't really need them if youre in a decent party. The pairs of Jarbas just die too quickly for traps to be effective. At that point SE4 is good enough. I can ususally sink an SE4 in 7-10 shots for Jarbas. Traps are just too expensive to run around using them on everything.

It's also tricky sometimes for a gunner (esp. GT's low HP) to start running up to dangerous enemies to start laying down a trap. I've lost a good # of dolls (the only way I'm likely to die on that mission) + burning traps trying to set that dam big Gol Dolva on fire in Mad Beasts. He hits hard, and likes to charge alot, so my traps end up missing 1/2 the time. Plus when he does stops, it's when he's gonna stomp on me at the moment. I'm stuck staring at him with my trap in hand, going "Oh Shyt...." in my mind.
Dolls + traps = expensive mission!

I'll try with my SE4 Burn 1st if possible, Thank you.
Besides, don't us gunners belong in the back and out of danger anyways? Well, at least some kind of good safe distance back...

I'm starting to learn not to do risky trap laying unless there's a support FO around (which is fine. That's why we get SE4). My mates aren't even fast enough for me in these situations.

Rifles take forever to level though, so traps are a nice alternative until then.
